I don't know of any road racing cars that are capable of 8 second times. The closest thing I can think of would be the insane-o Suzuki Escudo PPE. Formula 1 cars are 9 second 1/4 mile capable. Same for the LMP1 class Le Mans cars. These are all lightweight racecars that cost millions of dollars. I know of absolutely 0 production based road race cars that could run an 8 second 1/4 mile time.
A stock C6 Z06 makes over 350ft-lb of torque from 2000rpm all the way to 7000rpm. There's no 4 or 6 cyl that can approach that low end. The mechanics of turbocharging just won't allow for it. The bigger the engine the less stress on it is required to make and sustain a lot of power over a long period of time. The tradeoffs are weight and size. A 600 cube big block will make 500hp all day long on low octane gas and run forever. But it will be big and heavy. Using exotic components like titanium will lighten it up (and drive the cost up) but it'll still be big.And if you or distortion think a N/A 1000 HP bigblock is going to be any more reliable or streetable than a 1000 whp properly built turbo inline-6
