Batlground: Which car should we build next

gotcha. so, the learning curve comes at the customer's expense and not the shop's? hmmm...not sure if i would want to go down that road as a client.

keep in mind that a used 09 GT-R can be had for roughly the same cost as a good Z06. i've seen them go for a low as 65k.

btw, have you guys done any GT-R builds yet?

1st let's say that, unfortunately, we cannot own every single car that we are capable of working on. I wish we had it like that—but to answer your question, no the "learning curve" does not come at the customers expense. Just the car. That's what I was getting at. Our learning curve comes at our own expense in most cases. That being said, there are plenty of times where the customer will pay for R&D for a crazy project and that is always discussed with them and agreed upon upfront. We are pretty transparent and have no problem admitting when we haven't done something before. Additionally, just because we haven't done it, doesn't mean we can't. That has been proved on more than one occasion.

2nd, an '06 Z06 (the first year of the new body style) has been going for around $40-48k+, not $65k (That is as of the last time I checked around a few weeks ago). We happen to be getting an '07 for $40k because one of our friends can't afford his payments anymore. Lucky me.

3rd, we have not had the opportunity to work on an R35 yet.

i did check out your site. there was little to no information as all pages basically state to check back later... at least, this is what i found with the 'projects' page where one would expect to learn more about the competency and prior builds of a tuning shop.

thank you for the invitation to the Toys for Tots Dyno Day. if weather permits, i may very well take you up on the invitation. seems it's for a good cause.

on a side note, your website is incompatible with IE8... not sure if you were aware and wanted to be helpful.

I am not trying to be defensive, but the internet doesn't lend itself to tone of voice and sarcasm and I don't know you like that. Personally, I try to be clear that I am joking with people I don't know on the internet for that reason.

I am very much a noob at designing sites and have to work on it in between classes and TV shows we have been filming non-stop since. I am having trouble with the flash image viewer I created to embed on the projects page (the only unfinished page. Murphy's Law). I haven't updated the gallery in about 2 years because I haven't worked at the shop daily in that time span, but I am slowly working on getting it all back up to par. maybe you should try working in something like Joomla. much easier medium to work in as a self-proclaimed 'noob', but certainly challenging enough to give you great experience with site development.

I've looked into that actually. I designed it as my web design class project. Have to design and code from scratch for that. Figured I might as well make it a project I could use for the shop.

not a bad idea, but as you can see, it's difficult to build a website from scratch code...especially when the site will be an ongoing project. though, i will say you didn't do too shabby of a job. i'm a geek by trade, but i do not deal well with programming...i'm a network/security/windoze guy. i get severely peeved when trying to script something...

And yes, those 2 topics are rampant on IA. Might I suggest you never venture to the Whorehouse if you are one for mature conversations!!! As far as the mid-life crisis goes, it could be true, but let's break it down—currently the average life expectancy is 81 (iirc) and if you are 40 or younger it goes up to around 100. That would leave me 10 maybe even 20 years until I am actually at mid-life. That's what I tell myself anyways—that and mid-life crisis are only for men
