I say find yourself a 2.8 Turbo V6 Saab to tune. Hear me out. This would be mostly to tune the engine and not really the car. These engines are capable of a lot of power and now GM has basically used that Saab knowledge to put this engine in all it's top of the line models. The new Buick Regal GS is going to get this engine.
The turbo V6 is going to be the next performance based engine because it's a small package and generally gets better gas mileage than a V8 and simple things like adjusting boost can provide different power levels. In stock form these engines make 250hp/258lb.-ft. and with a simple ECU tune they produce 320hp/400lb-ft. and that's with swapping zero parts, not even spark plugs. GM is already using this engine in the Opel Insignia OPC and in stock form it's making 325hp/295lb.-ft. With a compressor wheel upgrade and spark plugs they make about 390hp. Just imagine what you can get out of the thing if you put a larger turbo in, a larger downpipe, and,ore efficient intercooler.
EDIT: I know you guys hate FWD and they are also available in AWD format with the newest Haldex system with an eLSD.
