I think over the summer i'ma yank the motor out and do a little wire tuck and take out the a/c compressor and lines and all the useless power steering bullshit. I dont have the compressor in there anymore, but i have the lines looped :lmfao:

If you wanted to use a Quaife quick-ratio aftermarket rack & pinion, a CRX HF or dx rack would be the way to go. Otherwise, go with an Si.

I have a neuspeed upper strut bar.

I havnt used anything els, so i have nothing to compare to it, but I generally go by the design. Like the password jdm upper strut bar attached to both the strut towers and the firewall.

But the c-pillar bar... i mean, i have no idea if that thing actually does any noticeable upgrade handling wise. But they do look nifty! lolol

Anything with a hinge is garbage and you shouldn't buy it. Neuspeed is the way to go for the front strut brace. PasswordJDM if you want something different, but the fact that it's a 3-point is meaningless, there really isn't any front-to-back flex between the shock towers and the firewall. I have an ESP rear strut brace, but the effectiveness of a rear brace is not as great. The key is just to get a solid bar that doesn't have any moving parts.

Alright, cool. So anything non-hinged or moving will be my best bet regardless of make? From my knowledge the biggest improvement for a wagon is a rear sway bar, and since I swapped to 90-91 si lca's it shouldn't be an issue getting one like before with the wagon lca's.

Rear sway bars make a big difference on a lot of Front wheel drive cars. Sway bars don't really make your car handle "better", they change the "characteristics" of how your car handles. And of course, in the hands of a good driver, and increase in oversteer can be beneficial, hence, an increase in handling.

A strut bar will increase the torsional rigidity of the chassis, effectively making the suspension work more.

I have heard some chatter that strut bars don't really help that much. I haven't researched the subject myself, so I'm not really convinced one way or the other. I definitely suggest doing some research and then making a decision before spending your money, or someone else's money.

Sway bars, springs, and dampers will change the body's attitude during cornering. Sway bars will be "invisible" while the car is driving in a straight line, and act only under cornering to help keep the car flatter. Springs and dampers must be well matched or else the result is a terrible ride; usually too bouncy. Remember your suspension is a system and that system has to work together well in order to deliver good handling characteristics.

Also, an increase in oversteer =/= an increase in handling in and of itself. The goal should be to create a suspension system that will yield pretty neutral handling that can be controlled through out the corner, from corner entry to corner exit. Too large a rear sway bar relative to the front can introduce snap oversteer, or oversteer when you don't want it. FWD cars are inherently baised towards understeer because of weight distribution, as well as, the compromises made during the design process. Understeer is less scary for the untrained driver than oversteer.

Thanks for the input. My cars suspension is already a little ''off''' since they don't make specific suspension for it. So at the moment my coilover rates are for a regular ef where as I have extra weight in the rear. So sometimes the rear can pretty bouncy or seem like its not firmly planted. From what I've read I can use DA rear coilovers to account for the weight. But who has the money for an extra set to only use the rears? I was also thinking of putting my stock rear shocks back on and getting a good coilsleeve/springs to lower with since I'd have more flexing in the front. Correct?

I cleaned my bay a few weeks back with Jermaine and BabyJ but didnt do it too well since it was FUCKING freezing and I didnt want to get anymore wet. But it was the first real degrease the bay has ever had. Didn't get to finish, but I think you'll see the difference.

Best before shot I have, but notice the left side of the hood and the inner fenders. I got some cleaned up behind the motor but had it running so I didn't wanna get too in there with such a small brush.

If you look at the motor mount in one of the after pictures, my whole bay looked like that.


BabyJ uses a gas based cleaner that's not 100% when the engine is running.

Just told me keep the engine running and scrub like hell. I'd never degreased my bay and didn't know exactly what I needed to avoid getting wet.

I used simple green, soap, and water. Then I spray tire foam on my engine bay.

This not the greatest pic, but you can tell the bay is clean. It looks almost just like my exterior even tho it my bay wasn't painted.

I used simple green, soap, and water. Then I spray tire foam on my engine bay.

This not the greatest pic, but you can tell the bay is clean. It looks almost just like my exterior even tho it my bay wasn't painted.

That looks really good, Dare. Anything that's not a dark color cleans up really well as long as there is no paint damage. I'm going to look at the bay in the other wagon and see how it looks. May do that one as well.

Just purchased a 91 DX hatch last night. Its my first EF but Ive been eyeing them for years now (especially Ellingwoods). When I picked it up it was manily stock minus an "intake". Its a short elbow stuffed into the stock accordion hose, looks like shit. Its started out at 2213 with ac, cruise control, ps, and AUTO!!! Ive already got it down to 2131. A/C and cruise didnt work anyways... We strapped it down to the dyno at work and its a staggering 62hp. Wow, I got laughed at a lot!!!
My plans are to make it a easily sub 2000 lbs car with about 450hp. Its gonna be a Time Attack car, Street FWD class. Ive already got the motor built just need a bunch of random things to get it ready for the swap.
I know its ugly, thatll change.
BTW, anyone want this bumper?? I think its intended for a CRX cause the fenders dont match up at all. I just want a stocker so I can run a J's Racing lip.

I know my windshield has had a small leak since I got the car, it didn't do anything but leave my carpet damp after a hard rain before, but it got worse and so I moved my ecu from the kick panel.
