If you saw the two-tone, yes, that was my car, but not me. My dad's got it down in marietta right now trying to get it to pass emissions while I'm up in Dahlonega at school. Today we took it back up there and it passed EVERYTHING with flying colors except the carbon monoxide which was almost twice the acceptable amount (meaning it's not burning off all the gas for some reason). We're gonna try putting those plugs in, checking to make sure the rotor and cap are done right, and a few other little this and thats. I'm also looking for someone to help me set the timing on that thing, cuz I've done it like 4 times, and I'm wondering if I'm not doing it right. I followed helms though...

LoL, I've been to the hun back in my younger days. Honestly, I didn't pay for the subscription to neccessarily look at porn, but just cuz I was curious what's on those sites in the members only section. Honestly...the shit sucked. At the first two meet were strictly EF varsity meets. The last meet (the funnest meet) we met at the varsity, then went to mainstream (where we bbq hotdogs and got dynoed), then we ran alittle bit, and last we chilled at the mall (I can't remember which one but it was in cobb county). So we went from downtown, to the eastside, and ended up on 75N LOL. This time I plan on making the EF meet bigger than ever, a two day event!!! So if you cant meet up with us the first day, then there's always the second. Plus, there been a few rivalries going on between CRX drivers (I'm not going to call them out, but you know who u are) that got to be settled. So this EF meet is going to end all of that, cuz we are taking it to the track! So get your cars ready! More details (like dates) are coming soon! Also I'm going to give every body enought time take off of work and get their cars together (hence the reason for no meet in the Winter).

But until I get that taken care of, we can have an unoffical meet! I'm down for this sunday if anyone wants get up and get something to eat (I haven't had real food in a minute).

its a immaculately clean crx, we jsut have different tastes, i love all stock type pieces, and your gauges threw me off a bit, but surprisingly your paint scheme looked good, i usually dont like two tones. very nice car though.

thanks dude. i wish i could do more to it but im spending all my money fixing shit that goes wrong. :( i hope to have the rear disc done in 2 months. i wanna do it right. stainless lines new rotors/pads/calipers all around. maybe new bushings idk.

oh speakin of bushings. the big one on the rear trailing arm that has the bracket on both sides. that is replaceable right. ill take a pic of it but im in class. if you know what im talking about then you might not need a pic.

SL65AMG - Yes, the "rear trailing arm bushing" is replaceable. It'll be a rubber fill wrapped with a steel ring. Look at it and you'll see what I mean. Spray some PB blaster and let that sit for some time. Take a punch, and hit the shit out of it. However, it's bigger on one side than it is the other. Meaning...that ring/bushing comes out ONLY on one side. You'll be reusing that pin (through the middle), and the metal ring, so try not to damage them. Also, remember which side is up and which side goes to the inside on that pin.

My advice to you...pull that bushing assembly out. As stated, it's the rubber fill, a metal ring, and that metal bar between it. Get a sledge and punch and knock the fucker out (make sure you're hitting it in the right direction) Make a nice fire in the fire place and toss it in for about 15 minutes or so. The rubber will burn off and you'l lhave a nice clean metal ring and center pin. Both of these will go into the urethane fill. Once you assemble that, hit it back into the trailing arm.

I promise you'll be fine to throw them in the fire. They won't pop, explode, or smoke your house out. I did mine this way. Just toss them in, leave them about 20 minutes to burn everything out, and pull them out with a hook or pick or something. Give 'em like 30 minutes to cool.

LoL, I told you! Throw it in the fire place or take a torch to it. That rubber will burn off if put under high heat for a minute. It dries it out. So once it cools, just get a sponge or whatever. The leftover rubber will literally crumble and fall out...

The 1988 CRXs are slightly lighter than any of the subsequent years' models, thanks to their conventional seat belts. 1989 and later cars had door-mounted passive restraints that required stronger, heavier doors. The '88 CRX also has a different rear suspension than any other CRX. Honda's unique sort-of-double-wishbone, sort-of-trailing-arm rear suspension uses a toe control link and a compliance bushing in concert to give a passive rear steering effect.

On later years, much of the rear steering was tuned out, bringing handling more in line with conventional front drivers. Many road racers prefer the earlier car's more aggressive handling, but warn that they must be tuned differently. A big rear anti-roll bar that you would use on any other Civic or CRX is an invitation for snap oversteer on an '88. Most CRX experts agree that for a street car, '89 and later cars are preferable.

Also unique to the '88 rear suspension is a rear main lateral link or lower control arm (what you call it depends on whether you consider it a trailing arm or double wishbone suspension) of stamped steel rather than the cast iron arms of later cars. The rear shock attaches to the control arm with an eyelet, rather than the fork used on later cars. The only other U.S.-market Honda to use this style rear control arm is the Integra Type R, though many of the high-performance Japanese models used this rear arm.

The 88 LCA's are "JDM" because that style of formed sheetmetal LCA was standard throughout the run in Japan, as well as other parts of the world. It has a "feature" called passive rear-steer, which basically allows the rear tire to toe out under compression, making for a more tail-happy car. After one year in the US they decided that a car that tossable had no business being in the hands of American teenagers with no real training, so they went to a rigid cast LCA that does not allow the rear to toe out like the sheetmetal one. In theory the 88 is the best handling for this reason. In practice, it's not an advantage unless you're at the stock alignment settings. The later cars can be statically toed out to be just as tossable.

I'm not staking any titles or claims until I get to toy with some of ya'll on a track. Then I'll start bragging. I honestly don't know what my car will do. Before it started acting up, though, I was running against a trans am and held out pretty well considering I don't have a tach, and I"m have to learn when this car should shift, when it red lines, etc...Held up damn well against it, though. He asked if I was turbo'd. I said "nope, it's stock. You can look at my tail pipe" (I've still got the 1.5" pipe)

Oh well, time will tell. Engine really is all stock, though. I don't even have a "cold air intake"!

I don't even know what my car will make on the track. All I've really done is back-yard drag where I wouldn't race anyone, just find a straight area with no people and go out in the middle of the night. That and what it does up in the mountains. It'll be itneresting to see how mine compares to some of the other builds because I did alot of thinking on which swap to go with. So far, though, I"m happy, but I nknow I've got a long way I can go.
