Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson are needed, at the least to add balance. Yeah they dont speak for the entire race but what they do have is media coverage. I do not know of anyone else in the black community who has the ability that they do to bring attention to situations like the Jena 6, Genarlow Wilson or Don Imus.
Are they leaders? No, they are a part of a driving force that gets these issues out there that would otherwise fall by the waste side. Everyone has their purpose, if you accept them for what they are and expect nothing more.. they're not all that bad.
I've said this before, I've seen Al Sharpton talk openly on a conservative show, they werent talking politics but simply life. The man is VERY smart, its almost as if he puts on an act because he knows exactly what he's doing and how he's perceived. But think about it, if Al Sharpton decided to be what others want him to be he would be boring as hell and at best have the notariety that Tavis Smiley has. Don't know who Tavis Smiley is? i agree, he does bring the media coverage amd get it out for people to know. But form an outsiders view looking at sharpton.. it rarely helps the right message get to them.

How about Tawana Brawley? Sharpton went as far as publicly claiming that the DA was one of the "rapists". We all know how that turned out. It was a hoax by a girl trying to not get in trouble for going to a party. Sharpton jumped with both feet and created a feeding frenzy until he was made to look like a fool. No appology even to this day, eventhough he demanded one from IMUS over saying "nappy headed ho's". Matter of fact, he got sued and was ordered to pay that same DA for defamation some $350,000. Smart? Ok.
How about inciting riots, like Bensonhurst or Crown Heights? Both ended up in exactly what HE publicly called for which was to burn down a store and kill "jews"...catch is that in doing so he incited rioters to MURDER innocent people. Turns out again, no appology nor public outcry for his head, ala Don Imus. People get KILLED because of this bigot and it's swept under the rug, yet IMUS mutters a sentence and it's front page news for 6 mos. Smart? Ok. Fair. Ok.
How about Freddie's Fashion Mart vs Record Shack? Again, another riot stirred up by this race pimp. A BLACK CHURCH owns some real estate. They RAISE the rent on one it's tenants, a Jewish business owner. He in turn tries to raise the rent on a sublet tenant, a BLACK music store. Swoop in Al Sharpton and his cronies to call THAT foul. He incites another riot where he works the crowd into such a frenzy that begins with spitting and yelling racial slurs at patrons going into the store "in protest" culminating in a crazed rioter going in BURNING down the store and MURDERING 7 innocent people. Smart? OK.
How about the Duke Lacrosse fiasco? Hmmm, once again Al the man swoops down into a situation he knows only ONE THING about, a BLACK woman accuses some WHITES of rape.....and there he is sounding the almighty race alarm. Turns out, once again, HE was wrong about that too. Where's the appologies? When even Black entertainers asked him to appologize, he commented back that he will "not appologize for protecting civil rights..." Who's "civil rights" do you protect when you make up stories and permanently damage innocent people's lives? Smart? No BRILLIANT.
Let's not forget Mr. Jackson:
What church is he "ordaned" from? Oh, yeah, HE'S NOT. He gave HIMSELF the "REV" title right after Dr. King's death. Right about the time he elected HIMSELF as spokes person for the NAACP. He only got an HONORARY degree for Theology when his SON was the head of an alumni association. Funny how that timing worked.
What about his shady and backstabbing dealings of the venerable NAACP? When a BLACK reporter uncovered Jackson's shady dealings with NAACP money and presented it to Joseph Lowery himself, he quickly turned Red Coat and turned on the very organization that was his claim to fame.
What about how Jackson proclaimed for years that "Dr. King died in my arms.."? Turns out he wasn't even on the balcony when he got shot. The picture that for years was used to support his claim, turned out to have been taken days BEFORE King was shot. He actually died with real activists at his side, NOT Jackson.
How about Jackson's super shady connections to street gangs and dirty family members? Normally a family member doing something wrong shouldn't be tied to an individual not doing it, but in this case it was Jesse's own BROTHER that JESSE hooked up in these shady business dealings that started it all. Jesse and his brother Noah were business partners with direct ties to gangs and street crimes. They were essentially trying to make shady dealings, ala Mafia style, seem squeeky clean. Didn't work. His brother got charged and convicted with Murder for hire and I think is still in Federal prison. Ironically enough all this surfaced during Jesse's failed run at the White House. Had it been Bush or Dean or even Gore, their "connections" to even anything resembling organized crime would have surely spelled direct disaster. For Jackson, it was never brought to light during his bid for being the first Black President. Funny how that works, huh?
How about what good ole kind Jesse calls his buddies the Jewish community? Imus says "nappy headed ho's" and the world stops. Jesse and Sharpton call Jews what? Yet there's no call for either of their heads yet.
I could go on and on about these "leaders of the Black community", but that's good enough for now. If you truly don't want them to be icons representing you, then you have to stand up and recognize what they really are.....racist bigots. The more the Black community shelters and embraces them, the more those fleas will come off them and onto you. Don't you see that when they get up on that podium of public opinion all this is what some people see? How is that representative or helpful to you? If it's not, then don't follow or endorse them. Chastize them out of that self appointed office and replace them with someone that does share the same values and morals as you. If you don't, then don't complain when people stand up and call a spade a spade.

As I said earlier they are not leaders but simply forces in the "movement." I have not bought into their teachings, to be honest I cannot stand to hear Sharpton speak because of what he has become. As far as Jesse Jackson goes, havent heard anything meaningful from him in a while.. matter of fact I'm pissed that he spoke out against Barack Obama.
Neither Sharpton nor Jackson are saints, I acknowledge that but their whole purpose is to be pro black and nothing more. True they are hypocrites for preaching equality although all they care about is the black race but expecting anything more would be fooling yourself.

A good example of an issue that the whites should have been all over is the murder/rape of Channon Christian and Christopher Newsom, both are white and all 5 suspects are black. I think that racism is nothing more than an idea in a person no matter race, sex, or creed that they are better than another person with differences of any kind. I also think that Al and Jesse have always been racist..but on one hand they are right about 10% of the cases they bring to light by using there race war tactics and it either seems to insue a riot or help the black community as a whole by bringing them together under one banner....I wouldn't call them leaders I would call them "promoters" sort of like Don King in a way. I also believed that the only reason that white people don't jump all over the race stuff is due to the verbal lashing they will take for speaking what they feel and then people turning it into a race thing when all they where trying to say was exactly like what Al or Jesse would say and it really isn't that big of a deal to the white person and wasn't even their intention to make a racial comment...It also doesn't help when you don't have a figure heads like Al or Jesse to charge forward holding that flag of racism and backing every word you say even if it is wrong....as for Don Imos...he shouldn't have said that on national television but what he said couldn't have been any worse than what black rappers say about women...I feel that racism will never go away due to the fact that people have the ability to take a person and find something they don't like about them and express that to other people and if enough people don't like those similar traits then it grows into a hatred which then leads to the formation of extremist groups like the Arayan Brotherhood and the Black Panthers which then brings violence against eachother and then all of the public is exposed to this hatred due to our extreme coverage ability of our media and a little sets in on people when a white person sees a black person fire bomb someones business because the owner isn't black...or when you hear of white people bombing a church because the people inside aren't the same as they are...and it builds in there head that maybe these people are right about this and it turns normal people into racist on a small level and that is where stereotypes set in and form these racial views of everyone and its a never ending trend because people have a little thing called opinions.

Yea, reperations was like 2002, but for some reason it keeps popping up. Once again, the people that support Reperations are people that can't stand on their own. Must be a good amount of them because it still has steam to this day.

1. Some blacks want to sit under a tree. Why? Not because they wanted to, but because whites sat under the tree. So they felt entitled. Nothing wrong with that, free country.
2. Some whites didn't like it and hung nooses in the tree. Too which they were suspended, but not charged because there is no law on the books that gives a criminal penalty for hanging a piece of rope in a tree no matter what shape it's in.
3. Some blacks get mad and beat up a white kid, not necessarily the white kid that hung the rope, but a random white kid. Not only beat him up, they ganged his ass with 6 people.
4. The 6 get slapped in jail, because there IS a law against stomping the crap out of someone. Attempted Murder, too stiff but understandable considering 6 on 1.
5. In comes Super Sharpton and Black Wonder Jackson to rally behind the 6. Everyone saw this coming and is to be expected.

Its not an "any means necessary" position because in the grand scheme of things how do they effect you personally? They don't, anyone trying to find resolve in an issue will use any and every resource they have to accomplish the task at hand, Jackson and Sharpton are simply resources.
