Tony, we've had good intelligent debates in the past. You seem like a reasonable person, so it surprises me you are buying into the Al and Jesse hype. You honestly think he's so "smart"? You want to talk about what Al and Jesse bring to the table of public opinion? Let's see:
How about Tawana Brawley? Sharpton went as far as publicly claiming that the DA was one of the "rapists". We all know how that turned out. It was a hoax by a girl trying to not get in trouble for going to a party. Sharpton jumped with both feet and created a feeding frenzy until he was made to look like a fool. No appology even to this day, eventhough he demanded one from IMUS over saying "nappy headed ho's". Matter of fact, he got sued and was ordered to pay that same DA for defamation some $350,000. Smart? Ok.
How about inciting riots, like Bensonhurst or Crown Heights? Both ended up in exactly what HE publicly called for which was to burn down a store and kill "jews"...catch is that in doing so he incited rioters to MURDER innocent people. Turns out again, no appology nor public outcry for his head, ala Don Imus. People get KILLED because of this bigot and it's swept under the rug, yet IMUS mutters a sentence and it's front page news for 6 mos. Smart? Ok. Fair. Ok.
How about Freddie's Fashion Mart vs Record Shack? Again, another riot stirred up by this race pimp. A BLACK CHURCH owns some real estate. They RAISE the rent on one it's tenants, a Jewish business owner. He in turn tries to raise the rent on a sublet tenant, a BLACK music store. Swoop in Al Sharpton and his cronies to call THAT foul. He incites another riot where he works the crowd into such a frenzy that begins with spitting and yelling racial slurs at patrons going into the store "in protest" culminating in a crazed rioter going in BURNING down the store and MURDERING 7 innocent people. Smart? OK.
How about the Duke Lacrosse fiasco? Hmmm, once again Al the man swoops down into a situation he knows only ONE THING about, a BLACK woman accuses some WHITES of rape.....and there he is sounding the almighty race alarm. Turns out, once again, HE was wrong about that too. Where's the appologies? When even Black entertainers asked him to appologize, he commented back that he will "not appologize for protecting civil rights..." Who's "civil rights" do you protect when you make up stories and permanently damage innocent people's lives? Smart? No BRILLIANT.
Let's not forget Mr. Jackson:
What church is he "ordaned" from? Oh, yeah, HE'S NOT. He gave HIMSELF the "REV" title right after Dr. King's death. Right about the time he elected HIMSELF as spokes person for the NAACP. He only got an HONORARY degree for Theology when his SON was the head of an alumni association. Funny how that timing worked.
What about his shady and backstabbing dealings of the venerable NAACP? When a BLACK reporter uncovered Jackson's shady dealings with NAACP money and presented it to Joseph Lowery himself, he quickly turned Red Coat and turned on the very organization that was his claim to fame.
What about how Jackson proclaimed for years that "Dr. King died in my arms.."? Turns out he wasn't even on the balcony when he got shot. The picture that for years was used to support his claim, turned out to have been taken days BEFORE King was shot. He actually died with real activists at his side, NOT Jackson.
How about Jackson's super shady connections to street gangs and dirty family members? Normally a family member doing something wrong shouldn't be tied to an individual not doing it, but in this case it was Jesse's own BROTHER that JESSE hooked up in these shady business dealings that started it all. Jesse and his brother Noah were business partners with direct ties to gangs and street crimes. They were essentially trying to make shady dealings, ala Mafia style, seem squeeky clean. Didn't work. His brother got charged and convicted with Murder for hire and I think is still in Federal prison. Ironically enough all this surfaced during Jesse's failed run at the White House. Had it been Bush or Dean or even Gore, their "connections" to even anything resembling organized crime would have surely spelled direct disaster. For Jackson, it was never brought to light during his bid for being the first Black President. Funny how that works, huh?
How about what good ole kind Jesse calls his buddies the Jewish community? Imus says "nappy headed ho's" and the world stops. Jesse and Sharpton call Jews what? Yet there's no call for either of their heads yet.
I could go on and on about these "leaders of the Black community", but that's good enough for now. If you truly don't want them to be icons representing you, then you have to stand up and recognize what they really are.....racist bigots. The more the Black community shelters and embraces them, the more those fleas will come off them and onto you. Don't you see that when they get up on that podium of public opinion all this is what some people see? How is that representative or helpful to you? If it's not, then don't follow or endorse them. Chastize them out of that self appointed office and replace them with someone that does share the same values and morals as you. If you don't, then don't complain when people stand up and call a spade a spade.
Both are nothing more than racists bigots, no matter what the color of their skin is.
