Yes. I grew up with my grandparents. I noticed little subtle hints at "separation" that they used. I could never watch black TV shows(Cosby Show, Jefferson's when i was growing up). My home wasn't outright racist. I never heard the N-word being used and black people weren't talked about at all in the home. Not because we weren't allowed to. We just didn't. My grandparents(when I first moved in with them) lived in Decatur(Columbia Dr.). They moved out when the black folks started moving in. When I brought home my first daughter(black), and then my wife(Japanese), they were very upset. Wouldn't have anything to do with my new family. After a year of no talking, they finally invited us all over to their house. Now, 15 years later, my daughter still talks to them all the time and things are good.
