To clarify, the day after it happened I came to the kid's house and told his parents what had happened. They said that I couldn't prove anything. I showed them a written confession that the kid had posted on facebook.
"Yeah man, me, _____, and ______ shot up Xan's fuckin' car with airsoft guns, fucked it up good it was sickkk".

They said it wasn't their problem and closed the door.
This is after I had called the police, mind you.

Then you have 2 choices:

1. MAKE it their problem by suing them.
2. Suck it up and handle it face-to-face. Get an estimate of how much it's going to cost to fix it, and then proceed to take that exact amount off their ASS......

My only problem with you is that you posted this for the whole world to see. Next time, just handle it. IA is not going to be your best source for any kind of advice including legal. Besides, you already knew what you should've done since the beginning I suspect. Just handle it.

They didn't do anything. This was 3 months ago.

Would it be bad form to ruin all their cars? They all just got their licenses, and their parents bought them the following:
1. 98 VW Jetta
2. 2006 Ford F-150 [about 3' off the ground at least]

I dunno what the other kid has. Both cars have about $3k in upgrades, which they did nothing to earn, their parents just don't know that they're a bunch of fucking stoner punks.

I wanna just key the fuck out of the cars and then when they get on my case just tell them what they told me: "Your car isn't even worth that much. Just buy some touch-up paint."

best advice in this thread. the lawsuit idea is, from a legal standpoint, the most solid, but honestly it's not worth it in this scenario since you'll waste more on court/lawyer fees than it's worth, and you might not even win.
