I've taken my drivers ed course more reasent than anyone here. Didn't teach me a thing, I honestly corrected my coach everyday. Drivers ed would not of stopped this from happening or had any side effect.lol

drivers ed taught me alot, and my mom probably gave me the best advice, drive defensively and watch out for the next person. took all of that in and have prevented SOOOOOO many accidents that i saw just happening in my head by watching out for the next person and someone else getting caught up in the accident. at the same time i was in 2 unfortunate accidents, none of which were my fault and only one WOULD have been avoidable had i been able to get out of the way w/ the person i KNEW was in my blind spot

I think you guys are confusing defensive driving and drivers education, where you sit in a classroom for 30-40 hours, and have maybe 6 hours of actual driving.

Defensive driving is classes you take and have to pay for, where you normally act out real world scenarios, and they are expensive, but priceless imo. Best thing I've ever done driving wise, was take a few of these classes. Learning how to get out of a slide (like the black ice you're mentioning sammich), accident avoidance maneuvers, how to use abs correctly, etc.

    1) How else does one wreck the FRONT of their car without running into something, right? It means you couldnt stop in time, which means you were traveling too fast. He also not only just tapped his front bumper and headlight, he hit something so hard it rippled down the side of his car, AND ripped the front wheel off. This isnt a MINOR accident, this is a TOTAL LOSS accident. Then, we have his statements "someone slammed on their brakes for no reason" this is called BRAKE checking. HIS OWN WORDS admit to him A) following too closely B) traveling too fast C) Being inexperienced

You know that NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS if you strike something with the FRONT of your car you are ALWAYS 100% AT FAULT. NO EXCEPTIONS. Its LAW. Say youre sitting at a light stopped and theres a car in front and behind you. A car SLAMS into the car behind you and pushes your car into the car in front of you. GUESS WHAT? YOU ARE AT FAULT FOR BEING TOO CLOSE TO THE CAR IN FRONT OF YOU. Happens ALL THE TIME ask ANY cop. Sure if you were 10 cars back and some jackass plows into you doing 100mph its an exception but youre probably dead at that point so assigning fault is the least of your concerns. But 99.999999% of the time, ANY front end collision is AVOIDABLE, YOUR FAULT.

    2) Why am I picking on Nermin? Because 3 weeks ago (and before that) he was bragging about DRIVING fast, SWERVING IN AN OUT OF TRAFFIC, GETTING ARRESTED , HAVING HIS CAR IMPOUNDED, ETC and NOW he wrecks his car KNOWING he was DRIVING TOO FAST, AND WRECKED. How can you CONDONE his actions? I can only come to 2 conclusions

    1) Hes an idiot teenager who doesnt have the parents to correct his behavior
    2) Hes an idiot teenager who doesnt have friends who have the balls to tell him to calm down

Ive been 18, ive made mistakes, ive NEVER said i was perfect. its because i fucked up im telling him to realize it and stop being a jackass.

But this day in age you guys are such PUSSIES that ANY sort of criticism you get SO offended and butt hurt that you whine moan and complain and blame it on someone else. If i had wrecked my car i wouldnt have posted pics about it on the internet 3 weeks after being arrested for driving like a doosh.

AND NOW HES BRAGGING ABOUT A BUILD THREAD FOR AN STI????? This kid couldnt control 180whp, and now you want him with 250-300whp+ ??????

This doesnt scare ANY of you?

    Ok, IM DONE.

mike you're a joke of a human being. where was I bragging? you're an idiot. NOONE brake checked me, they were pulling into a driveway.

If anyone is offended it's you. I'm not hurt, mad, sad, or annoyed lol. I'm laughing at the fact that you have all this time to write paragraphs. Were you there though? To tell me how fast I was going and what I did? No, so keep your mouth shut. I'll make sure I post up the police report.

Judging by the guardrail and that fence line. They weren't turning left. If they were turning into a driveway on the right how did you not hit guardrail and not them?

Now I'm not saying you're lying, etc etc etc or looking to add anymore internet forum BS to this thread, I'm honestly wondering. You're ok, and in the end that's all that matters.

I know you don't keep more than THREE CAR LENGTHS between you and another car at 50mph.

I believe we all had a lesson to learn here. Stay home. Driving is dangerous if you don't follow every little rule. Take a cab, then it'll be the cab drivers problem.

I usually do stay pretty far away. Daily driving all the shitty cars I have in the past, it's become a habit to stay back. If I'm not staying decently far back, then I'm in something I trust and stay very aware.

On the flip side, I just rear ended someone for the first time in my life last weekend. Going around 5mph. LOL.

3 car lengths is more than enough if you use the 'cardinal rule' of using '1-1000' up to 3...that's more than enough.

I'll bite. And I'll preface this with this has nothing to do with any dislikes towards anyone as there is none. I used to be a big basher of Nermin. I stopped all that BS a few years ago and decided to Mr. Niceguy and as far as I'm concerned, he and I are cool. And since I don't bash, I'll be respectful in my post and not name call or (intending to) insult.

First off I'll say that Mike is completely correct in his posts of driving skills and abilities. I believe there was more to this story than was told. I don't see going into a guardrail at 50mph if you're three cars behind the stopping car unless the driver is just not paying any attention or going faster than the stopping car or he was closer than he says. To everyone I ask, how do you guys know Nermin is telling the truth on any of this?

The people that are backing Nermin are helping a huge problem in society today. The older guys, Sammich, Simon, etc., are coddling to a person at an age where all people of that age are expecting to get what they want. People need to own up to their mistakes and not laugh them off. I'm not saying you guys should just go all out and tell Nermin to eff off and that he's an effing idiot. But you guys are babying him. Patting him on the back and telling him it'll be okay is not the complete answer. The younger guys that are backing him are backing him because they too, are young and make no mistakes. The one dude who has more recently than anyone else gone through defense driving is THE LAST PERSON in here that should be giving advice about driving skills. Especially when bragging about always correcting the instructor. Also the "nothing to lose" comment? You really need to do a lot more learning and a lot less correcting, young sir. The comment about driving 70 on a wet road? That made about as much sense as suntanning in a cave.

Nermin, my only issue with you (as far as this thread goes) is your ability to just laugh off everything from the beginning. When Mike made his first comment, I know it was a little hard, but you just responded sarcastically, calling him "mr. perfect." I'm definitely not perfect in my driving (although I've never had an accident be my fault in 26 years of driving), but I would like to think that I can give advice and it be taken seriously and not mocked. I think you're immaturity has a lot to do with your age and I can't fault you for that and hopefully you'll learn from the mistakes your making. Right now it may not seem so, but I like to think you'll outgrow all this.

And lastly, I have a hard time also believing that you got a warning for an accident. I've never heard of that before, but that doesn't mean it can't happen. You don't have to prove it to me. I'm not trying to be argumentative on that.

With that said, Nermin, I hope you don't take offense to it and hope you really do learn, man. Don't really care to read about unnecessary casualties on our roadways, man. Good luck to you, homey.

Wasn't bragging. The man just wasn't fit for the job. There is a reason he was let go. Wasn't giving advise, or whatever. I was giving a valid point from my prospective. Yes, I know I'm young. I respect you though, you've always been good to me on past forums. No offense taken

mike, am i suppose to take all the shit you guys seriously and not sarcastically? I know what happened, I know I AM at fault for wrecking my own car. Never did I say it wasn't my fault. Someone did stop and I couldn't stop in time. What am I suppose to do now? Kill myself? It's just a car. Noone was hurt, thank god. Just because all of you guys are so much older doesn't mean anything. Shit happens. I was not driving recklessly at the time. Do I or have I? yes. Who hasn't? and don't comment saying you haven't ever driven over the speed limit or went in and out of traffic. I take responbility for my actions, find a thread where I said it wasn't my fault I got a ticket lol.

I'm paying for ALL my consequences. Never have my parents paid for ANY of my tickets or fuck ups. I pay for my own insurance, food, gas, mods, car, school etc. I don't pay for rent lol. I'm past this. My car is gone and I was upset about it, but what can I do? Nothing but be happy noone got hurt. I'll buy another car lol.

Why even say anything about killing yourself? You got into a wreck through some negligent driving. Like I said, hopefully you try to learn from this. I didn't blast you for it. Thing is, though, although you're right about no one getting hurt, but you should think of the big picture for the future. No one got hurt.....this time. Continuing your current driving habits might (and will) offer up chances where someone else just might on another time. That's why I'm just offering up advice to you.

Actually it does, my friend. It means I have much more experience than you do. I was driving for what, eight years, before you were born. I currently log, on average, 2,500 miles per week. This means I've pretty much seen it all. This is stuff that I can relate to you for your benefit. Does it mean I'm immune to accidents (my fault or not)? Nope, it doesn't. But I have the knowledge and experience that another person could learn from.

I was just trying to comment in a friendly manner. Not sure if you're taking it that way, but that's how I'm delivering it.

You know, I tried analyzing the picture too, but without a complete map of the area, all the driveways, curves and roads, it's impossible to simply be able to call/recreate the accident, trust me, I'd love to as well. I also noticed the guardrail/fence on the "left" side of the road and given where the car is that no car would have been turning left anytime soon.

What I can see from the picture is that Nermin indeed did have his wheel turned well to the left when he went off the road, hence the dirt wedged between the wheel and the tire. This doesn't determine what cause the loss of control in any way though. Given the lack of variable, I won't try to assume any of the three scenarios I listed off a few pages back, but the picture and the story do not add up to me other than *if* there was another car, he was simply following too close...rookie move.

I was just sitting at a red light and seen a jeep smash into a light pole going like 50/60 mph. I cant belive how immature nermin seems, I mean he just laughs everything off like its not a big deal, If someone had gotten hurt or killed i doubt he would be posting about it. I know that some people will see my age and be like he has no room to talk but if i wrecked my car i wouldnt be posting on IA about it, I would be trying to get my car fixed and trying to better my driving skills.

That car was DOA. At least you were able to walk away from it. I hope you learned a lesson from that wreck- not saying that you did anything wrong as I don't know the circumstances, but you still should learn something from it.

I wasn't going to say anything, but I would feel disappointed in myself if I didn't.

The problem lies in that you have no repercussions for your actions. You total out your s2000 a week ago, and here you are today posting up the new s2000 you have already. I know you say your parents don't pay for your stuff, but the money is coming from somewhere. Since you also have a thread about you looking for a job, and it continues to state you have never had a job before, I can conclude the money isn't coming from you either. I also know that when I bought the Del Sol from you, the title was not in your name. You do not understand what "the fruits of your labor" means, and that is why you are able to just throw around the term, it's "just a car" when you total it.

Even if it is money that you have had saved up from an inheritance, or something, and you did pay for it with "your own money", you did not earn it. You have no right to own a nice car, or any car for that matter. You have been blessed with the opportunity to have one, and unfortunately, you have taken it for granted.

This is not to say I am perfect, because I know I'm not. When I was 17, the 'phantom deer' ran in front of me and I totaled the car my parents lent me. They didn't buy me another one, though. From that point, I had to buy my own car, and from the point that my car came from the sweat of my brow, it became more than "just a car". Yes, I love the tuner scene and enjoy modifying/restoring cars, but the car itself is more then a disposable toy.

One day, I hope you realize and appreciate what has been given to you. Maybe you will be able to give back to those who gave to you. I don't know. But you have a lot of growing up to do until that point. I know you have no control for the way you may have been reared or the things you may have been given (I have absolutely no idea of your background), but you have every control of the way you present yourself and the actions you carry out.

See, if you knew me personally, you'd know a few things about me. My parents DID pay for my blue S2000. I've bought every other car with my OWN money. I borrowed money from my parents a few years back and started flipping shit with it and gave EVERY single penny back to them the same month. They never helped me out again. I see someone post wheels for sale for $500, I know they're worth more, I sell them for $1k. Thats 500 bucks profit, turn that 500 into another 500 profit and keep it going... adds up man. I've paid all my tickets, lawyer fees, court fees ALL by myself. noone supports me, other than putting a roof over my head. lol
