this is the most retarded poll i've seen... do you mod your car for others? If JDM/sleeper won the poll is that what you would do? Sounds like you watched one too many F&F movies and just wanna mod your car just so you can have a modded car because I suppose it's the "in" thing right now.
What happened to people driving their cars and learning it, if it doesn't stop fast enough mod the brakes, if it doesn't turn well get new tires, if it doesn't accelerate fast enough tweak the engine...you buy whatever part that gives you the max value for the money spent, not because of some label given to it. Nowadays everyone just buys whatever parts because so and so magazine featured it... the real essence of grass roots racing and car modding has been lost in the cesspool of fake wannabes and I weep for the current car culture.
Please tell me if you think my car looks good. But don't tell me if you think it's ugly - only on IA

do a little research and see what options there are out there for you, who knows, you might like all show, but then again you might like all jdm. Tank is right, everyone should have there own goals and what they want to do.

JDM/Simple. You dont necessarily have to be JDM out or anthing like that but i like the clean and simple look.. Some nice 16in wheels, drop the car down to right above the tire to have as minimal gap as possible, no need to tuck tire, nice paint job and you are set...

Jdm is a much better choice long term, though I dont think jdm is much cheaper either. Show cars are good for the moment. Show cars are mostly late model cars and the owners dont hold on to them for long. Jdm cars can be driven daily and I feel like they can provide more enjoyment overall.

JDM is not "always" the better choice. Sorry. At the end of the day, it's all relative to what YOU like. When you are RJ Devera and start building cars for other companies or other people, THEN worry about what they think. Until then, you build your car the way that you want to.
Show may be a waste to YOU, but it is not a waste to the people that are into show. You are looking at things from YOUR point of view, which is what most people do. I'm all about letting people do what they want, as long as it doesn't negatively affect my projects. In Japan they are all rockin' DC Sports, Skunk2 and Edlebrock sh*t on their imports. A Trust turbo over there is the anomally, not the norm. When I was stationed in OKinawa that blew my mind. Do what YOU like, and do what makes YOU happy with your ride.
No1 is trying to "pretend" that they have a Type R. Those kids are basically proud of the dedication and TIME it takes to get even 1 JDM part... MONTHS sometimes to get even a set of taillights. Do not knock it just b/c it's important to them and not to you. Just do what feels good to you, and appreciate the "effort" that people put into their rides, not the choices that they make. I see blown Mustangs crusin down 400 and I HATE domestics... but I can still pull over beside the road and admire the effort that he put into his ride. it'd never be my choice, but you can't knock the love that they have for their ride. your post is nice and all and i completely agree with you, but the original post pulls us 2 sides, "for" or "apposed" to JDM style, i see it as being silly to pay 700 bux for headlights, 1400 bucks for factory JDM bumpers/lips, 400 for a Wing, 80 dollars for a dipstcik, 170 for a valve cover, etc...
I respct the 400hp muscle car more than i do the kid with the $12,000 hatch with $8,000 worth of JDM cool parts, and his car is no faster than mine. $30 dollar ash tray? $40 coin holder? i think thats a waste of money
Also speaking performance mods, to pay an extra 100 bucks for an exhaust because its "jdm" is silly when theres another brand you can buy thats just as good and sounds the same.
oh and just so ya know, my car has Real CTR headlights, wing, dipstick, valve cover, and badges. And if i hadnt bought the car with them on their i probably would not have bought them, or at least not bought the genuine part
I also love the things that are JDM that are NOT ACTUALY JDM.... like painting the roof your car black? wtf... thats lame in my eyes... This isnt the post where we are dissing anyone's ride specificly, so theres not really a need to tell everyone they need to be nice

JDM is by fat the cleanest look around. I'm a huge fan. It makes the car look like it should have looked from the factory.
Your "opinion" would simply be which one you think is best... not to say that the other option is a "waste" or "stupid". Notice BTW, that I have not given my opinion at all, I am just playing devil's advocate to help people understand that to not like something is kool, but to say to the people that DO like it are "stupid" or it's a "waste" is wrong in itself.
So simply stated, you should just say that you are against JDM. To add that it's silly for the people who prefer JDM is not what was asked in the poll. Like I said, it's all relative. Not that NE1 cares but I make $40 an hour, so what's "expensive" to some may not be expensive to others. $30 for an ashtray is not expensive to me. In fact, what determines if a choice is "silly" or not depends on your love for it. What determines how much something is worth depends on how YOU feel about it, not how much it actually costs. There are millionaires on Barret Jackson that pay millions for old Hemi Cudas b/c they LIKE them, period. To them, their love for it makes the price less important to them.

And that is your view that you are entitled to. This comment is exactly what the poll was asking for, YOUR opinion. This is the 1 place where you have given it w/out knocking the people who do not agree with you by calling them stupid or calling it a waste. You admitted that YOU think it's a waste. KUDOS to you, but just remember that some people do not think it's a waste.
