Understood. Simply stated... do what YOU want to do with your car. But IMO I prefer a clean look. I will not call this a "JDM" look, simply b/c u can go aftermarket and still have a clean ride. But since "clean" is not an option in this poll I am more inline with "JDM" (for the purpose of this thread). But in making my choice I will not attack a show-guy and say that it's a "waste" or "stupid"... b/c at the end of the day a vehicle is 1 of the worst places to dump a lot of money PERIOD b/c it can all be gone in the blink of an eye. That's the game we play though, and that's the chance we take.

i took it a step further and refused to vote cause there was no option for "fast"

[QUOTE=BABY J]Your "opinion" would simply be which one you think is best... not to say that the other option is a "waste" or "stupid". Notice BTW, that I have not given my opinion at all, I am just playing devil's advocate to help people understand that to not like something is kool, but to say to the people that DO like it are "stupid" or it's a "waste" is wrong in itself.

So simply stated, you should just say that you are against JDM. To add that it's silly for the people who prefer JDM is not what was asked in the poll. Like I said, it's all relative. Not that NE1 cares but I make $40 an hour, so what's "expensive" to some may not be expensive to others. $30 for an ashtray is not expensive to me. In fact, what determines if a choice is "silly" or not depends on your love for it. What determines how much something is worth depends on how YOU feel about it, not how much it actually costs. There are millionaires on Barret Jackson that pay millions for old Hemi Cudas b/c they LIKE them, period. To them, their love for it makes the price less important to them.

And that is your view that you are entitled to. This comment is exactly what the poll was asking for, YOUR opinion. This is the 1 place where you have given it w/out knocking the people who do not agree with you by calling them stupid or calling it a waste. You admitted that YOU think it's a waste. KUDOS to you, but just remember that some people do not think it's a waste.

YOU think it's silly... thousands of people think that that it's not.
the point of this thread was to pick one side and debat it, more or less. I also believe that JDM is the new Fad, and yet most of my friends and the cars that i like are "JDM cars", including my own brother. The thread was headed in a nice debate direction, just let it get there.

    JDM or SHOW.

This is so vague.... what do you mean by JDM, are we talking the "LOOK" or "Style" or are we talking parts? JDM is over used ( . ) I agree that a lot of people call jdm sticking black wheels on a white car or whatnot...... but what makes that jdm? Japanese Domestic Market is what jdm is..... and that it. If you want to TUNE your car like the Japanese, there a lot of cars you'd Call "RICE" in Japan. Most people here want to shave off there ITR wing cuz thats jdm ??? Any Tuner mags i have from japan.... The Rock the heck out of some FUNCTIONAL wings. Tru Tuners in Japan only put parts on there cars that IMPROVE there performance... And there are a Lot of Really Clean looking Civics and Accords in japan as well, And they look Alot like some clean Honda's in the US that have a few tastefull JDM parts on them.

Now Kids that mod there car for STYLE in Japan.... thats a whole different story. They rock lambo doors, crazy systems, HUGE wings, candy paint, etc etc in Japan. This is called "Spo Com" style alah Fast and Furious. There is also a BIG USDM modding trend in Japan.... Those guys try to find Everything that comes on our cars, like ash trays and stickers, headlights, shave off fender turn signals, etc etc...

Now "show" what does that mean exactly? Are you talking the lambo doors and systems, crzy paint jobs etc? If you go to an import "show" in Cali you'd see that Most cars these days have a JDM theme, with rare parts and clean subtle style cars..... SO JDM IS SHOW!!!!

Personally I LIKE clean functinal quality parts. If It does not improve what was OEM, then I really don't want to spend my money on it. However, Most of the parts or "MODS" I put on my car where manufactured in Japan. However these parts are some of the best available for my car. My Car is a Japanese manufactured car. Tru japanese tuning companies make GREAT products. I do have Parts that are high quality that improve my car for performance that are not JDM though...

Bottom Line... HAVE FUN WITH YOUR CAR AND DO WHAT YOU LIKE...

Examples taken from Japanese websites and Blogs:

    do some research:

JDM SiR RHD Accord coupe.... moded with USDM fenders and headlghts....

    more USDM STYLE IN Japan
    http://www.usdmjam.com/

    Spo Com in Japan

    sickly slammed accord

    tucked 19's anyone?!

    sick camero in japan!!!!!!

guess they are fans of conversions as well

    All mugen prelude with Hydrolics.....

How about a JMD accord on twenties?!

    etc etc etc......

... in japan, all Integra's other than the type R and SiR-G have the same round headlights we have here, so i guess that round lighted teg is not usdm style, but just a jdm integra Si or Sir. Non-vtec, like our LS...

i'm just getting tired of hearing everyone trying to make their car JDM and thats like the best thing that you can do to your car its about making the car your own style, yours not the JAPES cars, make it different then anybody elses. If you want true JDM go to Japan. Be a leader not a follower, don't do what everyone else thinks is cool do what you like and thats straight up.

I agree. Having a sleeper or what not doesnt mean "JDM" it. There are plenty of other after market providers out there that have equal or better parts. It's a 25 BILLION dollar industry right now, so I am sure you can find something out there you like. If you lived in Japan would you want USDM???

Thats what I was thinking too. I would rather have something that would surprise the other driver than to have this "show car" look and still rape them.

That last part is interesting, if you lived in japan would you want usdm. I don't see why they would, I mean JDM performance parts are better than USDM. Although they don't have any Mustangs/Camaros/Vipers, their stuff is better than our stuff.

let me give you some advice as a fellow accord owner, fuck everyone's opinion about YOUR car, build it the way YOU want it not the way they want to see it. In the end YOU will be very happy with YOUR car.

Thankfully your car really is a "Japanese" car and not a Del Sol at that. Just keep external stock as hell and build motor, that's always fun to do.

Baby - j and a few others have spoken some real sense on this thread. I think the moral of the story is to just do what YOU want, and not to set out to impress others as you will never be able to impress everyone.

My opinion...It really depends on what you get. Some cars actually looks really nice with aftermarket kits and some vehicles are just not made for kits to be put on...if you know what I mean. I have a 95 Accord w/ full Wings West kit (just add on lips not entire front or rear bumper) It looks nice and simple. I also own a 93 Hatch. These hatchback (again in my opionion) should be left stock in appearance. In actuality, what matters the most is what you decide on. At the end of the day it's what make you happy.

I just like a clean looking car. JDM, Show, or stock. Body kits look like ass unless the car is going to compete in a show. I don't see the function of a full kit on a DD car. Me? Sure, I'm going to throw on a lip, maybe a spoiler, CF hood, and build the crap out of the motor and suspension.

    But, to each his/her own.

What if being pure JDM is, also, extremely showy? Like owning a skyline GT-R (not the new GT-R)? By default you would be showy, but you may have the desire to own the legendary RB26 motor in the chassis for which it was meant to be used.
