scion dude eh.
The EMPIRE
Looks good!! How much longer until estimated completion of the project?
Quality Perfomance and Fabrication!!
thats looks kool although seeing your manifold makes me think you could have gotten a garret/tial turbo with the vband exhaust inlet and been a first to use that design and system.

ya know, that's an answer I'd like to know myself.. there's alot that goes into this, I'm not the only one who has a hand in it, so scheduling others in to do their part seems often difficult. I shouldn't be longer than 2 months to have it broken in and ready for some beating. (I feel like I am being a little generous with that time frame, it technically should be shorter..), so we'll see.Originally Posted by BLK JDM
Most components are assembled and much of the work will be just installing parts and tuning. But a few things like the intake manifold, oil pan and fuel system need to be finished before we can drop everything in. The motor in the picture above is just the test motor for the purpose of measuring and fabricating parts in the bay. The "built" motor is ready to be dropped in when ever we get the other parts fab'd up.
in the end we are planning on using 3 or 4 vband clamps (one in the above picture) and 2 others on the down pipe.... we had considered welding a clamp on the a/r Discharge but I think we're going to use a flange instead.Originally Posted by SPOOLIN

Saw the car when I was up there grabbing some parts. What's the hp goal here?
Wow...nice looking manifold you got there...what hp numbers you expecting to put down?

I just don't honestly want to speculate much over numbers because I don't really have anything to compare it too. we've done our best to over engineer the project so as to make it as consistent and reliable as possible... And to tell you the truth, I'll be happy just to get it running...(It's been at lethal for a while now.)... I'm not really shooting for specifics at this point, those will come after everything is put together.

which GTK?
I wasn't impressed at all with the one I put on an SRT-4
It's the GTK550... If it makes the power we're hoping then I will be happy.Originally Posted by Big J
Going from a stock HP of 160, to over 500 I think will be enough to impress me.
I will be interesting to see how it reacts with the smaller A/R
Be very cautious with your dealings with them... Just some friendly advice for you....Its a very simple statement that I will not go any further into...
The XUV !!!
sick setup man! lookin to boost mine. i have had my tc for bout a year now, and i still cant afford to get boosted! the kit i want is 3g's and ill be running 9 psi on stock internals and numbers are supposed to be at aroung 260 to the ground. no where neart the 500 ur talkin bout for urs!

Yeah I saw your car there! Looks excellent! Lethal Injection FTWMan I dont even want to know how much money you're throwing into that thing. Looks really good tho...for a Scion :P
The reason why he is using the Turbonetics turbo is because he got a good deal on it.Originally Posted by SPOOLIN
we put the GT500 on an SRT-4 and we didn't get full boost to after the 5,ooo rpm mark, it would fall out of boost between shifts, and took a lot more PSI to make what a smaller charger would have made on less boost. I reinstalled everything twice because I thought for sure it had to be an exhaust leak or boost leak.
It sucked ass, it was the worst charger ever, not to be discouraging, lol.
We'll what kinda ecu were you using. And we seen ppl who use the GTK-550 on tC's make full boost earlier than 5k. So we'll c![]()
You're going to be severely disappointed with that GTK... they're momre for show than go... =[
On a side note, that v-band inlet exhaust housing is gangster... any big advantages to them besides being able to pivot the turbo?

One big advantage of using the V-bands is the dis-assembly process of the entire turbo system. After disconnecting the manifold from the block, there will be all of 4 or so more clamps to disengage and everything will come out. It will make it that much easier to interchange components if needed.
As far as the turbo goes, I'm sure we'll be fine, I have no problem replacing it, if need be.

we ran it as it came out of the box, it came with a .70 compressor and .63 exhaust side. It spooled so slow I thought for sure there was a leak before the turbo. 30 psi + race gas 420 hp, it sucked ass, biggest disappointment ever. The car was totaled before we could go with another turbo.Originally Posted by Complication

Well you can make a much smaller housing flow the same amount as the conventional square housing. Could possibly see an increase in spool. You can also pivot the turbo but everyone knows.... pipes are round for a reasonOriginally Posted by ct9a gsr

Hoo-yah, Team Lethal!
lol
Couple suggestions for the next one. The collector diameter is way to big, it would have been better if you had made it with a 2 1/4" collector to keep exhaust velocity up. Also the transition into the turbine housing the not the most ideal, in an ideal world you want to have atleast 4" of straight flow into a turbine section. Lastly the wastegate should never be mounted at a 90 degrees. Ideal would be a 45 degree or less split, think Y and you get my point.Originally Posted by Complication
All in all it not bad, but i think there is room for improvement.
wow. very critical analysis.....anyways, the Vband Tial housings are pretty sweet. just thought I'd show what I've put together....

yay!!! more boosted tcs!!!!!!lol so when is it gonna be completed?
got boost?
crazy manifold.
:idb:
I saw this car in person back in the Spring and it was certainly a cool project.
Believe I spoke with the owner a few times as well (way back when).
But glad to see things are moving along...can't wait to see that thing on the road.![]()
Lethal FTW!![]()
gt3076r is the turbo of choice for this kind of motor. you can get a hybrid of the gt30r that will work great with little boost too. for example. gt3040r or gt3035r.
ultimate sleeper.
That's one sexah manifold! Scion tC FTW.
