Yep, this is being everything on a stock b20(bottom end) and example using a b16 head on top -- other then changing stuff like the water pump, timing belt, studs, etc. the required stuff.

B20V's are as reliable as you build it. I'm still working on mines just to make sure that I get everything right.

i tuned a guy's b20vtec w/ jrsc then he changed it out for turbo. it was pretty reliable and was making appx 300whp.

as long as a stock bottom end b20 is not revved like a gsr they are fine. built they don't have any issues either they run fine and are reliable if you don't cheap out when you build them.

What kind of pistons do you guys recommend, and internals like valvetrain and any other oem or aftermarket performance parts ?

A stock B20 is just as weak as an LS motor since they use the same internals (rods, crank).

A stock b20 block you treat just as you would a stock ls block, keep the RPM or Revs down. Keep it under 8000rpm an it should last as long as you maintain it.

Built, the b20 is great for NA because you get a 2.0l.

Turbo id stay away from the B20, ive seen 2 or three crack a sleeve under moderate boost. The b20 sleeves are known for being thinner an weaker than the LS/GSR/B16 sleeves.

Is it reliable? depends on how you drive it. If you are going to do a stock b20 block, VTEC head, then like i said keep the RPM down. If you rev over 8000 it will not last long.

a set of rs machine cast type r style pistons some eagle or other good rods and the factory crank with be fine. throw a vtec head and some good size cams and valve train in it and you should make around 200whp. thats enough for most people and can still be driven daily to keep it reliable.

Whoa now, no need to lie to yourself about the k killer stuff, definitely not the case, but fun none the less. I had a b20vtec w/ GS-R head and a b20b all stock for 60k miles, and believe me, I had fun with it, no problems, but now I have a k20 and wouldn't want to go back.

w3rd. K20 is the ****, its a new generation. I drove a B20vtec, wasn't impressed with the redline. It was also an LS tranny so I was twice as bored.

That was the problem. Plus, I'm assuming it was in a DC. That didn't help much either.

mostly when a b20 fails its a b20z or higher compression motor then puttin a vtec head ontop of that makes cylinder pressure even higher b4 u start to boost. i personally have run a b20b 8:8:1 with a gsr head on 8-10 psi for over 4 years and was tunned by scotty at mainstream and makes 258-278whp on the dyno dependin on the psi bump and i always stay under 8000. shift at 7500.all i have done diffrent is use arp rod bolts as the rodbolts are under greater stress as a bigger piston is being slung up in tha bore at that velocity. 81mm as compared to the b20 84mm piston. id say do a b20b low compression on 8 psi and keep her below 7500 with out the rod bolts..
LET ME GUESS... YOU MISSED A GEAR!
