the FQ400 was not built from factory by Mitsubishi.Originally Posted by stikiller

everything else is whatever the s204 STi comes with, except for suspension (litchfield tuned) turbo which i beleive to be a 20g like the evo XI in japan, i beleive Cosworth just cammed it, and RUF was involved for brakes.
Porsche and Subaru have always been involved. just wish i could say the same for mitsubishi lol...
my point for this video is, this car can be easily built by your avg joe for about 10,000 on top of what the car costs.. and even @ 415bhp.. you can easily make more than that for the same price.
mitsubishi... dodge... eagle.. chrysler... lol.. you get the point.

If they had to change the turbo to get 320 wheel (which is about what 415BHP breaks down into) thats a tad sad. I know that can be had on the stocker at around 19.5 psi or so. I feel that teh FQ400 is rated very low. I think that car is putting down at least 350whp.
repost, the other is done by 5th gear on youtube i think though. Prodrive P2
stll a sick car![]()

The FQ400 isn't made by Mitsubishi, it's made by Ralliart and some other third party companies.Originally Posted by stikiller

yeah... in my opinion, this beats out the FQ400. I'd like to see this one chase down that lambo as well. You know how we jdm boys and girls love picking on exotics.![]()

Thats awesome and easy to replicate or just as easy to make it better
20g or green turbo
Exhaust
ECU
KW Coiloverss
Whiteline swaybars
ALK
Those brakes are available for 2500.00 us or you can get a set of stoptechs for half that.
Thats pretty much all you need.

The stock STI brakes are pretty fucking great as it is with a good set of pads.

The only thing they have in common is a flat (boxer) engine design. That's it. So I guess Mitsubishi and BMW are also involved cause they both have inline 4s![]()
Porsche themselves do not waste their time with Subaru nonsense.......
Yeah, VW gave the old Bug flat 4 engine design blueprints to Subaru back in the 70's, but as far as anything German on a Subaru........uh........NO.
Alois Ruf has enough serious business with 911s and their owners, and for them to fall back 20 steps and start modifying Subarus must mean that Subaru is desperate for some know-how, seeing that they needed a 2.5 to compete with Mitsubishi's 2.0 liter.
The Porsche "big reds" have been excellent brake upgrades for a lot of German cars over the years; it was first done on various VWs and Audis and Mercedes.
Now, simple brackets made it possible to install them on Subarus. That's good, but if reminds me of the Isuzu Impulse with it's "handling by Lotus" advertising schemes back in the late 80's.........![]()
It's all advertising BS.
And NO, the STi tranny (although a strong one) is NOT made by Porsche.
If you want a Porsche/Subaru hybrid, why not sell the Sti motor for $5000 (someone told me they go for that much, I don't know) and add another $3000, buy and install a older 911 3.3 Turbo engine, which after getting Raceware headstuds would handle over 800whp with other bolt-ons.
Then you'd have a fast, realiable car that actually SOUNDS GOOD too.![]()
Enter turn 10 at Road Atlanta at about 160mph and tell me the stock brakes are great.Originally Posted by Fast Shadow

Uh...... I quote:Originally Posted by fcman

I read that as spoilers, which is obviously the "Porsche-like" brake ducting "job".
Evidently a ricer will concentrate on this as being one of the things that "makes" a car, right?![]()
Maybe I stand corrected. But to me.......a big rear wing does NOT turn a Lancer into a EVO or a WRX into a STi.
It now appears Subaru can't even design their own spoilers. WOW
Trow dat in yo' crack pipe and blow dat smoke tru yo' grillz.
1. Spoilers that resemble a superior car do nothing more than attract ricers and euro-wannabes that have more brains than $.Originally Posted by GTScoob
2. Bad mistake (same mistake also made by many German car manufacturers for US Spec cars in the last 10 or so years).
3. A different set of shocks, a camber adjustment, and some stickers do not qualify as "shares a lot with the Elan", and what miniscule level of "help design" do you consider that to be?
4. Reducing the value of a car can be done in many ways![]()
Although there are certain factors which determine the hp/tq on 2 engines that are the same size (such as turbo size, amount of boost used, compression ratio, cam profile, not to mention tuning, etc) a larger bore will allow for larger valves, therefore increasing HP, not torque.Originally Posted by Fast Shadow
Nobody was saying that the bodywork turned the car into a Porsche, we were just showing that Porsche and Subaru have worked together before.Originally Posted by d993s
Subaru cant develop their own spoilers? I guess you dont pay attention to rally and how Subaru put a bunch of vertical vanes along the rear spoiler for more aerodynamic control while sliding sideways; by the next race every other car in the field had adopted a similar spoiler.
Do you actually own a Porsche or are you just some pretentious know-it all that will never be able to afford one? You sure seem to be ridin its nuts pretty hard.

I have several Porsches, yes, and I've owned 9 in the last 6 years. No, I'm not wealthy (a new STi costs more than either of the older Porsches I have now) but I am an enthusiast of specialty cars, which at my price level happen to be mainly German. I'm talking about cars that set the standards, and which are fun to drive and give you more satisfaction than basic transportation can offer.Originally Posted by GTScoob
I'm not a know-it-all, but I do know quite a bit. These cars are my life.
I'm sure people who know me, as well as the SM crew can confirm this.

STi with 301whp
vs
944 Turbo with roughly 230whp and a blown head gasket, not to mention 226k miles and on the original turbo! All stock except for 12 psi instead of 10.
If I had just 1 psi more, I would have won.
The temp gauge was maxed out on the 944, and the red light was on, so maybe it made 210whp in that race. It was still a VERY close race.
But no prob, I'm done with excuses.......Just another week or so (I hope) and my other 944 T will be ready. Ready for any STi from a 60 roll to 160 or more.
(I hope an STi is safe at 160)
All it has is a slightly larger turbo (about the size of a small/medium 20g), and larger intake and exhaust. That's it.
2.5 vs 2.5
Not to be cocky, but if I lose to a STi from 60-160, it will only be because it has a larger turbo and at least 10psi MORE than I'll be running, which I'm told is impossible on a stock internal STi. My 944T has stock internals.
Please show me a STi that has trapped more than 120mph in the 1/4 on completely stock internals, and then I might have some competition from 60 up to 125 or so).
So Ming has the fastest STi locally?
Genya on here, (jason) with i beleive 390awhp and 440's awtq ran a 11.8 @ 121 i beleive. stock internals.Originally Posted by d993s

with 301awhp we trapped 111.
ming does not have the fastest STi locally, its probably the slowest out of the NON stock turbo STi's around. STi owners who are fast (most of them make over 500awhp) rarely come out, im working on one coming out to run boris/rudy/and possible even evolunchbox/phill
2 / 3 = 0.666
I'm pretty sure there are STIs trapping nearly 130 on stock internals, I know of a few Evos that have done it. It's a timebomb but it will hold together for a while.
HAHA ricer? I would say you're the ricer with you high-and-mighty "Porsche would never waste their time with Subaru" attitude. I prove you wrong you can't back up your statement. All you do is criticize the company for getting Porsche to help in the design.Originally Posted by d993s
