^ We are all ricers!
^^ true story
damn wish i still had the camaro to run u
100 bucks here. from a dig, only pussies race from a roll.
This thread is stupid..Im sure youve been lurking around here enough to know what your car should be able to run against so instead of being dumb and calling out no one in particular why not call certain individuals out?
this thread=fail
and tdurr it depends where your going to be this weekend. im not gunna drive far away just to race. everybody knows that. come down to south side there will be plenty of people to race.
The only prob I see w/ roll-races is that it takes the driver out of the mix a lot of times. I don't want to race your car - I want to run YOU while you are in your car so I like the dig. On the flip-side, rolls are "quick-setup" type of runs where if fuzz shows up you never stop moving... and you can say that you weren't racing and don't know the other driver. Building a car that doesn't leave from the dig on the street is not an "excuse" to only run from the roll. Why do I say this, b/c I know guys that are TRUE street-racers (IMO) and can make 500+ whp damn near dead hook and proceed to roll out on your ass. These guys are a dying breed. On the flip side, cars that can leave hard from the dig on the street usually aren't very impressive on a prepped surface. You gotta pick your poison... I know some street guys that will NOT meet you at the track just for this reason... they've figured out how to set a car up for unprepped surfaces and don't want to change it up just to prove a point at the track.
Silly thread though - but I think that was by design.
what are u driving now?
no cash atm. and only pussies call ppl pussies for doing roll races :goodjob:
lol pm's my friend. Im just waiting a few ppl to finish their cars, and to put like 3-5 more things on mine then ill call ppl out left and right for the hell of it. :tongue1:
:blah:bring ur s2k out ill run it. :blah:
yea i see that. but if i go to the southside ill want to go home first and grab money, then its like another 45 min from my house to yall... so that would be like 2 hours of driving for free runs... ill meet half way or something or we can go eat somewhere before/after to make it really worth while
wheres half way
kinda. I just wanted to see wut the "top dogs" would do. if they were bitch made or not haha.
But really u do have some good points. I can say that i dont know how to launch my car on the current set up. WHy? cuz tires suck dick. it would be a waist of time imo to learn wit these tires. my launch point would be lik 2k if that. so yea...
if u want to race the driver, go to the race track with a bracket car. then it is a drivers race. roll-racing by design is a test of how fast the car is. most people are interested in which car is faster not who can drive better JMO. to each their own but when i race someone i want to know which car is faster. :goodjob:
I'd be down after the KSU meet if you wanted. I don't need to run over 100mph anyways because of my weak ass overdrive (full throttle + shifting into OD = Boom.)
well thats depends. take my car for example. its prob faster than most cars here (not trying to be king or anything, its just an example) but on a roll race i would lose once we get to about 130-145mph. i have my tranny gears set up for the track, so once i go into 4th im in over drive. 5th is even slower because its my second over drive. lets no even bring up 6th. but roll races not for me
a car set up for the track should race at the track but for your typical run of the mill street car a roll race will tell which car is faster. this is of course only stands true if neither car miss a gear, jumps, and drivers are similar in experience. usually the race is over by 145 so my point still stands. :boobies:
What kind of screwed up tranny ratios do you have?
4th should be close to 1:1 on any 6 speed manual, on a stock S2000 it is 1.1:1. 5th and 6th are overdrives, but 5th is still close to a 1:1.
Stock S2000 Gear Ratios:
1st: 3.133
2nd: 2.045
3rd: 1.481
4th: 1.161
5th: 0.943
6th: 0.763
Reverse: 2.800
Final Drive: 4.100
Secondary Gear Reduction: 1.208
PPG's ratios usually are:
Ratios: 3.16 / 2.09 / 1.53 / 1.22 / 1.04 / 0.88
As you can see, only 6th would be overdrive.
Are you using their drop gears? They don't list the ratios for them, but they should be similar. Why would they make 3 OD gears, except for top end runs? You might want to double-check this. If they really put 4th as an OD, then they ripped you off with a poor tranny setup in regards to performance.
That's definitely an interesting tranny. I don't think that I would have thought to done it that way.
When my 5 speed breaks, it's going auto. Much less to worry about for me.

Do you have a way to load the turbo when you are at the line? I.E. - AEM, line lock, etc?
For you, I would only consider the TH400 - fully built. You need something seriously strong, and it has the reputation for being reliable. Only downside to it is that it has no OD.
For me, I will go with a built AOD later. I need the OD, as mine is just a street car.
If they've put the money into buying components that are much stronger from a dig they won't. There's hardly a car out there that has a tranny, clutch, and rearend than can handle many hard launches. Also, most cars are IRS nowadays and those are awful for trying to launch from a dig.
im in a slow 240sx now,but im working on getting back in a fbody soon.
Diff strokes for diff folks. Cars don't talk shit on the internet - drivers do. So for me, I like to make the DRIVER lose - not the car. But I understand that not every1 thinks like me. Also, since the OP was talking about street runs, the closest thing on the street to challenging the driver (like bracket-racing) is the dig.
