The anti-Christ does come and mess things up, during which the apolocypse comes in and the world turns to sh*t. It is at this point that Jesus will make his return and the final confrontation will commence. Those that have accepted Christ as their savior will be revived from the dead or saved from their fates to live eternally on the new Earth that is to come. Those that do not know Jesus or were unsure of their faith will be given one final chance to seek redemption. Those that deny Christ as this point will not be sent to Hell, but rather destroyed.
The problem with people's interpretation of the "rapture" is that they believe any idiotic nonsense that they get from a "preacher" weilding a bible. If they took the actual time to read the scriptures, then they might actually have a clue.
Not sure if this helps or not. Just thought I'd throw out some things.
