    Default Nick Bollea Finally Sentenced

Just on TV now, Nick Bollea sentenced to 5 years probation, 3 years suspended liscence, and 8 months in the county jail.

I was glad there was incarceration imposed, as initially while watching the trial it seemed he wouldn't serve any time.

But he's on his way to jail right now, and they do have 30 days to appeal.

I find an interesting part of his probation is no alcohol....he is only 17, so that part was laughable. They also withheld ajudication, meaning this can be off his record as a felony at some point in his life.

Overall, I say he got off easy.

compared to other people who have killed people in traffic accidents by driver errors. he kind of got a good amount of punishment. And considering his friend didnt die, but he was severly hurt.

I think it should be a felony on nick... His friend and his friends family are going to be affected by it for the rest of their lives... Nick should too.

*technically* his passenger is not dead.

I'd be curious to know, though... according to media, his passenger will be affected by the wreck for the rest of his life. I wonder if Nick would be brought back into court if after serving his jailtime (which I doubt he will do the whole 8 months) the guy in the passenger seat dies as a result of an accident related complication. I definitely agree that he is getting off WAY easy. If it had been a regular joe off the street (especially an 18-25 year old joe), the judge would have "made an example" and handed down the harshest sentence possible.

^^ he is being made example of. one question for everyone bashing him, how many times have you got in your car and went and did some dumb stuff for fun? donuts? "drifting"? light to light drag racing?

i KNOW you have all done something like that. you just got lucky and didnt wreck.

I'm not saying that by not wrecking it's ok, but the people on here who have been idiots on the street didn't put people in comas. If someone on here got in a wreck and put someone in a coma, I would be saying the same thing.

And 8 months for permanently injuring someone is a CAKEWALK. Especially since he will be able to get all charges dropped to misdemeanors and walk away without a felony on his record.. that's ridiculous.

i dont think he should have a felony on his record. its not like his intention was to put his friend in a coma. his friend was the one not wearing his seat belt in the first place. to punish him for his friends ignorance is just stupid. im not saying he should walk away from it completely free, i mean, the wreck WAS his fault, but 8 months jailtime because his friend didnt wear a seatbelt?

yeah, theyre making an example out of him because of his celebrity status.

    http://glosslip.com/2007/10/10/nick-...cks-not-johns/

There's a link to the article. Nick's statement pisses me off... "his body was perfect, he just hit his head"... JUST HIT HIS HEAD?! Are you KIDDING me? So according to Nick's logic, if someone's skull is cracked open, they're ok so long as there's no other injuries. Fvcking idiot.

The point remains that Nick was driving, and the speed they were going, seatbelt or not his friend would have been badly injured. There are wrecks pretty regularly where people NOT wearing a seatbelt saved them from much worse injuries than the ones sustained. Whether or not this was one of those wrecks the world will never know, BUT, the wreck would have been avoided all together had Nick not been an idiot.

And they're not making an example out of him at all... 8 months in jail is pretty light for the fact that a marine who served our country is now a vegetable in the hospital.

“In my silver Viper, I was driving from Miami to Tampa. I got pulled over going 107 [mph] and the guy let me off. He’s like, ‘Hey, I know who you are, just keep going, ya know.’ Dude, I got back on the road and two minutes later I get pulled over going 113 [mph]. Another highway patrol from the same county said, ‘I just heard on the radio that my buddy pulled you over and let you go. I’m a let you go this time. It’s your second warning. You get pulled over again, you’re probably going to go to jail.’ Three minutes later, [I was] doing 123 mph] in a 50 [mph zone]. The guy is like, ‘Hey, I just heard you got pulled over twice in the last 10 minutes. I got to write you a ticket.’”

This guy is like the biggest douchebag living.

well seeing that the car had racing harnesses and seats, i think a seatbelt would have definitely saved him.

Did you see that car? I mean, seriously? It was TRASHED. If it had a cage, maybe, but that car was so mangled that I don't know how much of a difference it honestly would have made. Nick's bragged about his speeding multiple times, and it caught up with him. Unfortunately, one of his friends was hurt... now he has to pay the consequences. He's getting off light, no bones about it. Why the hell are you defending that douchebag?

yeah his friend is seriously F'd up. but i dont put much if any blame on Nick for his actions. you know his friend was involved in what they were doing, and im sure he was egging Nick on at some point. i dont know about you, but 8 months in jail is a long time, thats a lil less than a whole year. he doesnt deserve that for a mistake. and accident. he needs his liscence takn away, thats for sure, but jail, nah, mabye 2 weeks at the most, thats plenty of thinking time.

But I think its crazy that jesse4846 car actually take up for this dude. How are you going to say they are treating him harsh because he's a celebrity? You go do 113 mph in your miata and get pulled over one time, let alone 3 times and see what harsh is.

^^ my car barely does 113 with the top down... lol

im sticking up for him because he made a stupid mistake because he is a stupid kid. can ANYONE on this forum say that they have never went and messed around in their car? i highly doubt it. i know i have. i may do it in safer places than on the street like he did, but i have before. his friend is responsible for himself and he chose not to wear his seat belt, so he is paying the price for his stupidity. i do think nick should be punished, but 8 months? thats a little excessive along with 3 years of no license and 5 years probation.

He still shouldn't have been racing in the first place. As far as the friend reponsible for the seatbelt, I think its the drivers responsibility for them to make sure there passengers have there seatbelts on. If you don't want to wear a seatbelt gtfo of my car. Excessive? I think not, his friend is a vegetable as a result of his stupid actions. Imho he should be serving more than 8 years not months.

maybe if your talking to your kids, yeah...

as far as "adults" go, no. if you get in my car, ill tell you to buckle up. if you say no, fine. if you want to risk your own life because youre to lazy to bucke up thats fine. i shouldnt be responsible for my passenger not wearing a seat belt. ive never agreed with that law and never will. it makes no sense.

As the driver of the car, you are responsible for the wellbeing of the inhabitants in the car. That is the responsibility you take when you get behind the wheel. It doesn't matter if your passengers are 8 or 80. When you get behind the wheel, you take responsibility. It doesn't matter if your passengers are "egging you on". It's your responsibility to say no. People die all the time speeding... it's a known cause of death. If you and your friend are standing at the top of a building, can you be "egged on" into jumping off? No? There's no difference. Jump off a building, you may live, you may not. Speeding, you may live, you may not. Just because your friends tell you to jump doesn't mean you do it.

He should have made sure his friend was buckled up, yes. Personally, if everyone's not buckled up, my car doesn't move until they are. Call me a nerd or whatever you want, but if you want a ride in my car, you put on your seatbelt. That's my personal rule, but it's there because I realize that I am responsible for everyone in the car when I drive.

My friend Chris hit a construction worker 4 years ago. It was a construction zone, Chris wasn't paying attention, and hit the guy. The guy ended up dying a few days later in the hospital from internal injuries. That was 4 years ago.

    Chris is still in jail.

I realize that while Nick didn't technically kill the man, he is responsible for him being in an incapacitated state for the rest of his life. And if the guy DOES die as a result of injuries sustained in the accident, I don't care who you are, that's vehicular manslaughter. A FELONY. Just because he didn't die instantly doesn't mean he's out of the clear.

Jesse - you're just a moron imho. Not for defending Nick, but because you seem to think you're above the law. The legal system is in place to keep some sense of order to the world. The law makes perfect sense if you let it. It's idiots like you who think you're above it that mess it up for everyone. Nick was clearly in the wrong and breaking the law. His friend is hurt because of it. He should be punished to the fullest extent, and he's not. He's getting a light sentence and walking away scott free.

Fuck stance. Stance is for kids in skinny jeans with Justin Beiber haircuts. You don't need stance when you got swagger.

i'm just gonna butt in on this one for a second. nick was wearin his seatbelt or harness correct? how badly was he hurt? now if his friend was smart enough to wear a damn seatbelt, we might not be in this situation (no way to prove you or me right). even though the law states the driver is responsible for passengers, his friend is still a dumbass and is partly his fault imo. i hate nick as much of the rest of the population, but his friend is just as dumb for not wearing a seatbelt and i don't really feel sorry for him, even though he was not in control of the situation.

edit: money = power thats why nick got off easy, it's how the world has always been. i think they shouldn't let him near a car for the rest of his life as punishment, hopefully next time he kills himself.

bottom line is that Nick was driving and if Nick hadnt been speed his friend would not be hurt....now thats besides the point that his firend didnt have on a seatbelt ....i think they should give his friend a ticket too for no seatbelt. now the sentence isnt so bad jailtime would suck but other than that hes just got to find a ride for a few years and the felony status dosent stay on his record

    hell he walked iMHO

^^I don't disagree that his friend should have been wearing his seatbelt. Yes, his friend did make a stupid move not wearing his seatbelt, but Nick was being pretty stupid. Two stupid people and 500hp is not a good combination lol. But I still think that the stupid person who is still conscious is getting a very light sentence.

Fuck stance. Stance is for kids in skinny jeans with Justin Beiber haircuts. You don't need stance when you got swagger.

His passenger wasn't wearing a seatbelt and has ridden with Nick many times before, so I think he knew what kind of driver nick was. Don't forget his passenger is a grown a.ss man, so he made the decision to ride with nick knowing the danger

I couldn't have said it better

i still think, in know way should this be considered anything near vehicular manslaughter, even if the friend dies. he knew what he was getting into, and sh*t happens. not alot of need to punish anyone really, this is just a really bad accident. now nick shouldnt be allowed to drive for a few years. thats true. idk. i think his punishment was fair, all except the 8 months in jail. that should be like one month max.

Imho it could have been prevented. His dumbass shouldn't have went racing in the first place. When a driver races on the street, you put innocent civilians, drivers, passengers, and least importantly if you are street racing your life on the line. If something happen the DRIVER should be held accountable. I don't care who wasn't wearing what.
