Yes it was me that posted the first "heated session". HOWEVER, let me make a few obvious pointers here.

#1) If you don't have experience in doing something, either a) practice it and become good enough to offer the service or b) don't charge someone an arm/leg for being a "test rabbit".

#2) I have owned my own business and honestly I would have never let something leave my store looking like that knowing my name/shop was all over it.

#3) I really felt that the second time Justin took the car in, all would be ok, but again it wasn't.

Now with all this said, yes I came at Bucky all wrong, but the reason I didn't do it in PM's is because I didn't want to hide anything. I have been painting cars and interior pieces for people for almost 15 years (Yikes my age is showing) and to charge that kind of money for that type of job is not right. That's how I feel and I didn't want to hide that from anyone. Bucky may not like the way I came at him, and honestly if I was in his shoes, I wouldn't like it either.......but if you are going to offer a service that you aren't familiar with or if it doesn't reflect what your other work does...then the same price shouldn't given. Anybody who has ever painted anything recently should know how much paint costs....especially for a car as small as a Sol...and there is a lot of I suppose "labor" built into that 1g.

But the key to a good job is patience and taking your time....a good paint job can't be rushed and can't be slapped on it and it all be good. Prep is key.

Regardless of what happened, I will apologize to Bucky AND to Justin for butting in where I shouldn't have been, but since I have experience in painting.....I honestly felt like Justin was being taken. If Bucky makes the paint right, cool....if Justin has to wait for me to do it....cool. I just know like alot of people have said, he has been dropping a lot of money into the car and he just wants it to be nice....and I can't blame him. I will also do whatever I can to help him acheive that as well.

So in conclusion....I think I have covered all that I wanted to say, if I missed anything, I am sorry.....Im trying to type all of this while I watch my 1 year old tear up my office!!

I was going to smart guy....but I have a 1967 Mustang that is getting a full restoration and "color change" in my garage right now! Oh and don't forget fulltime job and family....but that's just little things that get in the way, huh? Justin wanted it done before I was able to get to it so he had Bucky do it.

Oh and another thing i forgot...1k is cheap for even a decent paint job from a shop with a advertised shop name like SSC the delsol might be small but hey i had my 02 gsxr right here painted i went and got me some ppg paint and for just the paint and clear for the bike was over $300 for some decent paint so u tell me if good paint is so cheap and u can get it so much more cheaper well then i would expect that next time i need my bike painted...OH!! i forgot its setting in the shop right now about to get painted and u no what!! all i need is paint so i will need to come to your shop and get the same ppg piant i got for my other bike but a dif color. But i am expecting u to give it to me way cheaper than what i paid since u say 1k is a arm and a leg for a paint job.

P.S I am not kidding either i will buy the paint from u since u got hookups

This is rediculous. All of this nut swinging and hating is really just unnecessary.

I don't know clean_sol, nor have I ever seen his car, so I have no comments on that. But I did have Bucky repaint/match one of my now sold BBS RGR's and I was very pleased with the outcome (the buyer of the wheels was, too), especially for the price. I actually took it to a few very well known wheel repair shops around town and they either said they flat out couldn't match the color or wanted a stupid amount of money to do so. I wouldn't hesitate to have him do more wheels for me at all.

    I had no idea...

Hence why I said I had no comments on clean_sol's paint job, I've never seen a car that Bucky's done a full paint job on, so as I said, I have no comments on that as I have no first hand experience regarding it.

i have been in the buis for a long time and this whole incedent is nothing new. coors can is right and i know this from this situation. i honestly think that bucky could have priced the job higher and gave better quality. but in his defense that was at least 2k under what i would have charged for a color change without buffing the car. i think that was a sort of hookup and a low price to help bring in the buisness. word to bucky......no matter how you sell your stuff, never sell it short. just dont bother with the job if you will have to go through hell to get nothing in the end. on the other hand your name is now out there . no one has 100 percent feedback on body and paint work. it really is the hardest skilled labor job to get in other folks eyes..... right.
keeep in mind people that there is no perfect paintjob...ever,ever. nowhere. NOBODY CAN SPRAY A PERFECT PAINTJOB FREE OF SURFACE TRASH AND MINOR BLEMISHES. that being said maybe this can be worked out amongst yourselves, if not you can always resort to bashing and other sorts. it really works, bad word of mouth is considered free advertisement, just is something i try and stay away from. thats why my paint work is far and few between. then when i do a job i try and price it on the customers projected attitude and problems i might encounter due to the paintjob bargain hunter.

another thing i dont feel its proper to pay to be a sponsor, but be free from negative comments because you are. this site has extreme moderation problems.

    hmm where to start.

well first this thread it stupid. justin knew he could come to me with any problems. i told him in the begining the car would prob need buffing and i wasnt completely comforable with buffing black. there was so much said i really dont know what to address in this.

the $1k price tag. i spent between $350 and 400 in paint. then add the tape and all. i am not like the big body shops that charge 500 for a all over, i cant mix my own paint and have little money in it. i know if had bought the paint at my local store the price would have been even more. so for my profit and time invested he got a hell of a deal. i do have a family to support, a shop and house to pay for, bills and that profit didnt pay very much i promise. most of my customers can tell you that my prices are way cheap. i hear all the time " you need to charge more" so obviously i am to kind to everyones wallet

this is not my first all over job but it is the first in this shop and booth. alot of the problems stem from the setup. lighting mainly. but i dont make enough profit as it is to put more lighting in it. electrician, materials etc.

everyone knows i have been more than willing to fix the few problems my customers have had. and i pushed alot of work out of the way to take justins car back to work on, and i would do it again if thats whats needed. thats the reason this thread is stupid. i have never told him that i wouldnt work on the car anymore. if he is set on getting the car resprayed then i will do it at my loss$.

to the people that say i had plenty of time. try running a shop by your self, (bills, work load, phone calls, customers coming in, etc) have a wife and 9 month old daughter at home. try working on 4 or more projects at a time to keep everyone happy. work 7 days a week and then tell me how that is. yea my friends help out an hr or 2 a week and i am very grateful that they do it. i couldnt do it without them but its still not enough some times.

justin got his car back "subpar" but as stated above i just ran out of time. he had to have the car back and he got it back. i wanted to wetsand the car but just didnt have time. i wasnt 100% happy with the car but all it needs it a wetsand and buff. the foundation is there for what he wants.

justin and i have already discusd what is needed and it will be delt with. everyone will go on happy and say HI at meets and . this is just the normal IA drama.

And this is why this thread is now done. Bucky is the man, Mushroom Toy is a douche and shouldn't have REPOSTED A FUKING THREAD THAT WAS DELETED IN THE FIRST PLACE.
