For the sake of an intelligent discussion on IA, I hope this was a gross generalization and meant to be aimed more specifically at the the dude who posted the comment about Vick.


Sorry to be the one to ruin your "American Dream" but, racism is alive and thriving in 2007 just as it was in the 1920's. Of course some people use race as an out but, just because the date has changed doesn't mean that the times have as well. The flip side to some blacks always using the "race card" is some whites always thinking that racism no longer exists and when race is suggested as a factor, they immediately assume the "race card" is being played.


Again, I hope this was just another gross generalization because, if you think this is a trait only associated with blacks, you are shrouded in ignorance. This is something that is done by ALL RACES, WHITES INCLUDED!

So when something does happen (or doesn't happen) that is quite possiblly racially motivated (like the slow response to Katrina), you have some people who look at it as being a cop-out and then cry that their race is being "picked on." Maybe it's just me, but if a natural disaster were to strike a city like Denver, you can't tell me that the feds would have responded in such a leisurely manner like they did with N.O. But that is just my personal opinion.

People - It's an ALLEGATION against Vick - he has not been convicted of anything yet. Funny how I don't see 12 impartial people in this thread - after all of these pages. You are so quick to assume guilt. Doesn't the indictment look a little odd to you? It has a lot of "extra" info in it that has no bearing on the charges against him. It talks of animal cruelty - but he is not charged with that. All of the alleged informants are anonymous - no names given. What is happening is that he is being tried in the media before trial, which is wrong - the indictment should have stayed sealed until trial.
I'm not saying that he is guilty or innocent, and neither should anyone else that doesn't have all of the facts. You shouldn't pass judgement based on just the feds allegations.

I have to disagree.

The main reason why this is getting so much attention is because of the simple fact that his is famous.

Just look at the media's top stories the last few years: Paris Hilton going to jail, Michael Jackson molestation (sp?), Mel Gibson drunk driving, Lindsay Lohan in rehab, Nicole Richie pregnant...etc

Let's face it, all of those stories were about famous people commiting crimes ( not pregnancy though ) that occur everyday in our society. We all know that people drink and drive, people get pregnant, sickos molest children, and people go to jail for violating probation.

Ask yourself this question, how many times you do hear about violent crimes where you live that get national attention recently ?

The only one I can think of is the Kathryn Johnson incident. To me, a change in police policy to prevent this from happening is more important to me because it can directly affect me and not Michael Vick's ALLEGED dog fighting involvement. He was indicted because of SUSPECTED INVOLVEMENT..etc, not because he was black.

To whomever it was that said that, get a life and start accepting responsiblity for you actions, that is what a adult should do.
