On both sides, its fucking ridiculous. Between Obama supporters (who probably werent half as involved in the primaries) who are gloating and the John McCain supporters who are whining.. both sides need to grow the fuck up.

To those who support Obama and feel the need to argue, criticize and rub it in peoples face; that man said not one bad thing about John McCain or Sarah Palin OR George Bush. He showed humility, didn't gloat although he easily could have, follow his example if you're such a staunch supporter.

Honestly I question anyone who wants to put down those who voted McCain. As a long time supporter of Obama since the Iowa caucuses, I've gone through this with Clinton voters. When Barack beat her the animosity was much worse than it is now with people who voted for John McCain, but we knew in order to win the general election there had to be some kind of common ground. This is no different, arguing gets you nowhere except division and more animosity.

To those who support McCain, all I can say is give the man a chance before you write him off. He will be the Commander in Chief, that will not change. But as I said before I've been a supporter since January, I didn't like Barack much in the beginning but when I sat down and actually listened to the man, see it from his side.. I understood. Barack is not who a lot of people paint him to be in the media. Contrary to belief he is not a Socialist. Obama is pretty well centered politically but in order for him to win the democratic nomination he had to shift left.. there was no other way.

If you listened to his speech you heard the real Obama. He will work with McCain, he will work with Palin politically. I have no doubt in my mind he will win over a lot of you that are upset with his nomination. I'm not saying go out and buy Obama gear.. jump behind him completely and not question what he does. Hold the man accountable, but at the same time open up your minds and at least be objective to the future of this country under an Obama administration. And I apologize for those Obama supporters who lack tact and humility, understand those who have really been in the trenches with this campaign are not like that.

May I also just say I was annoyed how last night the news outlets constantly cut to black get togethers.. why not show the NATION celebrating? Anyway, just my , lets be adults about this.

Great Post. I think America has everything to GAIN and nothing to lose. We are in one of the worst economic positions since the great depression. Stock Market has never seen such drops in one day. We are spread thin on multiple fronts w/ success no where in sight. Job loss, bankruptcy, foreclosure all at record highs for our modern times. Give the guy 4 years and see what he can do.

I liked two excerpts from Obama's speech;

All in all it was an ok speech, but really no susbstance. A few empty unity lines, but they were so transparant it was comical.

what policy has Bush passed in the last 2 years against the Dems opposion? I know that during the worst part of the gas crisis in August, Pelosi sent the house on a 5 week vacation while publicly ignoring an energy bill presented by the republicans.

Good post Tony, most people haven't thought about the fact that with "change"* comes large resistance. Before the automobile revolutionized America, the idea was looked down upon, most were scared and resisted the change. Now look at how American's view that market. For those who are negative, please continue, you all are needed to make this journey even more triumphant. Every success story has it's few doubters so keep doin' watcha doin'.

I think this election was a total failure. I mean it is bad enough we have such a great divide between the democrats and the republicans, but this time just added another great divide, black and white. No offense, but you might of totally missed my point. People need to stop looking at things as black vs. white. Stop making this a racial thing, and look at it as an American win, a win for society. Im glad the accusations of him being a terrorist muslim had no substance and feel sorry for the poeple that bought into that useless BS. I did not vote for Obama, but I didn't because of his politcal views, not because I thought he was some closet terrorist who was ready to destroy America; not because he was black. In my eyes, voting for him because he is black is just as bad as not voting for him because he is black.

Obama ran a very intelligent campaign, and he is a very intelligent, well educated person. He targeted his campaign towards young Americans. College students, first time voters, the younger generation as a whole for a reason. He preached change and preached to the young voters to get out there and vote, and make a difference. Generally speaking, the younger crowd is easily manipulated, especially considering how uneducated they are on politics. Obama won the popularity contest we call an election, and he won it strategically with a well ran campaign directed towards the younger generation. He played the game of politics, and played it well. Now we will see what he does with his position as president come January, and I hope he does well.

one thing that a lot of us are forgetting is that georgia has a pretty diverse population. there are parts of town where white people are the majority, black people are the majority, asians are the majority, hispanics are the majority, etc. we all know that in those particular communities have their own lifestyles (based off of the masses culture...both positive and negative). so we shouldn't be shocked or amazed to see this massive change in AMERICAN HISTORY/CULTURE have such drastic effects on the people. most importantly, if you see someone who is enjoying the moment...why feel the need to rain on their parade? attempting to make fools of people does nothing to better the american public...i promise you that. like it was said before, after 9/11 all of a sudden...all of america just turned "PATRIOTIC." flags all over houses, cars, shirts, etc....and i bet some people couldn't even explain what the stars and stripes mean...does that make them any less proud of their country? less educate; maybe. less proud; no.

last thing...

people making all of these bipartisan complaints need to get over it. we all know partisanship is more of a gimmick than anything. in a perfect world...EVERYONE'S own view point would be the "say all, end all." well...things are never perfect...so we tend to gravitate to a particular party whose views we can relate to. as stated before...this applies to everyone...voters AND CANDIDATES. being upset because someone's own view of the government, falls more in line with the party they associate themselves with (for the reason i stated above), and they don't have a "history" of bucking the system...doesn't make them any more different than YOU and why/how you associate yourself with a particular party.
