I think this election was a total failure. I mean it is bad enough we have such a great divide between the democrats and the republicans, but this time just added another great divide, black and white. I have heard a lot of black people say this is a win for the black community. How ignorant is that to say? This should of been looked upon as a win for the American people as a whole, if you voted and believed in Sen Obama. All this election really accomplished was putting the ignorance of the American public in the spot light. Imagine if Obama had lost, the black community would of been outraged and blamed it on racism. Look how pathetic some of the ignorant white people acted during this election, saying Obama was a muslim terrorist and such, I mean come on, that is not even a realistic possibility. Both sides showed ugliness and ignorance, and the media put it as the spotlight of this election, and it truly makes me sick. This election furthered my lack of confidence and faith in the American public, and right now im ashamed to be an American. Just some of my thoughts

This is at least one reason why its a great moment for the Black community. All the ignorance and smears that were thrown at Obama didn't work.

No offense, but you might of totally missed my point. People need to stop looking at things as black vs. white. Stop making this a racial thing, and look at it as an American win, a win for society. Im glad the accusations of him being a terrorist muslim had no substance and feel sorry for the poeple that bought into that useless BS. I did not vote for Obama, but I didn't because of his politcal views, not because I thought he was some closet terrorist who was ready to destroy America; not because he was black. In my eyes, voting for him because he is black is just as bad as not voting for him because he is black.

Obama ran a very intelligent campaign, and he is a very intelligent, well educated person. He targeted his campaign towards young Americans. College students, first time voters, the younger generation as a whole for a reason. He preached change and preached to the young voters to get out there and vote, and make a difference. Generally speaking, the younger crowd is easily manipulated, especially considering how uneducated they are on politics. Obama won the popularity contest we call an election, and he won it strategically with a well ran campaign directed towards the younger generation. He played the game of politics, and played it well. Now we will see what he does with his position as president come January, and I hope he does well.

Come on man, how many blk presidents can you count on one hand. African Americans have the right to be very happy and pleased b/c this is a very historic moment for the african american race. Can we just enjoy the moment, you have for the past 400 years. I totally understand people all over the world are going to be ignorant and unfair but even 61% of the white population thought Obama should have won. So please man out of the kindness of your heart let the americans and definitley the african americans enjoy the moment!!! God Bless America

Come on man, how many blk presidents can you count on one hand. African Americans have the right to be very happy and pleased b/c this is a very historic moment for the african american race. Can we just enjoy the moment, you have for the past 400 years. I totally understand people all over the world are going to be ignorant and unfair but even 61% of the white population thought Obama should have won. Fair enough, but it does show racist are a dieing breed. Always a good thing.
