In this country, we rise or fall as one nation, as one people. Let's resist the temptation to fall back on the same partisanship and pettiness and immaturity that has poisoned our politics for so long.
I wonder when he decided to not to vote strictly along party lines. I know that in his 12+ years in politics he hasnt done it yet.

Let's remember that it was a man from this state who first carried the banner of the Republican Party to the White House, a party founded on the values of self-reliance and individual liberty
He mentions this, yet all of his policies are the exact opposite. He is against self relaince and prefers relaince on the govt.

And while the Democratic Party has won a great victory tonight, we do so with a measure of humility and determination to heal the divides that have held back our progress.
The democrats are the ones that have created the divides and refused to work with Bush or the Republicans for the last 2 years. You dont need to look any further than Pelosi to see that.

And to those Americans whose support I have yet to earn, I may not have won your vote tonight, but I hear your voices. I need your help. And I will be your president, too.
He will hear it, then ignore it as that moving towards the right will case him to lose votes, and we all know that votes are the #1 priority of any politican. For him to earn any support from me he has to dump pretty much every program he has campaigned on. His healthcare plan is a joke. His lack of an immigration plan is obvious. His punish the rich tax plan will further hurt the economy.

All in all it was an ok speech, but really no susbstance. A few empty unity lines, but they were so transparant it was comical.

If you really think it only goes one way...well then nothing I say will really matter.

what policy has Bush passed in the last 2 years against the Dems opposion? I know that during the worst part of the gas crisis in August, Pelosi sent the house on a 5 week vacation while publicly ignoring an energy bill presented by the republicans.

Ahhh, well, it's done... Now we ALL have to sit back and watch. We'll see. Maybe it won't be bad, maybe it will. I'm gonna have to look at the glass as half full. Otherwise, well I am disappointed. But there is some good in Obama but lets hope the good out weighs the bad. Only time will tell.

Personaly i hope he gets us out of Iraq, but I also hope he does it in a manner that doesn't affect our credibitily as the United States of America, the greatest country in the world.
