Zogby polls show mccain up 48-47

There is rumors of other polls coming out this weekend showing Obamas lead erased in either a dead heat or 1 point behind. we will have to wait an see.

The scary thing is that independant voters are something like 20% are still undecided, they are going to make up who wins this election.

nah i still think Obama has it, but it just shows how tight the race is going to be.

Ive always said it would be close.

what is more troubling to me is how divided the nation is. You realize that no matter who wins, 50% of the country is going to be upset. What is even more interesting is that if people are so tired of Bush, and people are so ready for change, why cant Obama close the deal, he should be 20 points ahead

People in this country don't even know what change is...

I expected it to be very close, but not for any good reasons.

the reason he's not far ahead....well there's a number of reasons:

    he's a muslim
    he associates with terrorist
he's racist (against whites and jews)
    he associates with other racist
    he's a socialist
    he's a democrat
    he's black

yeah...put someone like that against a POW, american hero, "TRUE AMERICAN," bush like individual...and the american people will have a tough time choosing.

totally disagree, i think the people that think hes a muslim is an extremely small percentage. BLacks are turning out in record numbers and i dont think it hurts him being an african american truth be told.

He does have radical associations with bill ayers, wether you want to believe it or now. Rev Wright is a racist and it was his pastor for 20 years, cannot deny that.

There are some issues with Obama and his history that he hasnt explained and has just brushed it off. that is resonating with people

    Ok Um....

    Not true
    True
    Not true
    Semi True
    Semi True
    True
    True

So take the first two out of the equation. If the country is so ready for Change and that is Obama's platform and he has like 4X the money and has way exposure than McCain, why is he not ahead by at least 10 points.

    You forgot he's the anti-Christ.

And we just can't have a colored socialist, terrorist anti-christ running for president.

Because everyone knows we were so much better off letting former oil company ceo's run the show.

Funny thing is - I bet a lot of my friends are racist and I will never know it. Does't make me 1. I like Michael Jackson - doesn't make me a child molester - and i like his music AFTER knowing what he was accused of. Bad example - but proves a point.

But there isn't any clear cut guide line for what it takes to be president, and there never really has been. What is the perquisite for understanding what it takes to do that job? Experience? Numerous presidents have taken on the job without a lot of it to draw from.

I think he flip flops because he's a thinking man. It shows he's changing his mind and considering the options. Why would I want to vote for someone to simply sticks to their guns no matter what. That would mean that even if they were wrong, they wouldn't change their mind, or be convinced of the opposing point of view.

The point of the president is that "we" as a whole, are selecting him for an exercise in applied judgment. While it might be unnerving that he changes his stance on some issues, it shows that he's reconsidering the idea, and making what he believes to be the best judgment based on the available information.

The presidency is a job that can sometimes require good improvisation skills.

I have never heard any of those sources mention Obamas race, that he was a muslim, that he was a terrorist, or that he was a racist.

I think you are confusing chain email and fox news. I understand it happens, I typically confuse MSNBC election coverage with an Obama ad.

More reason to stay away from Obama. Even given the fact that he is simply a typical politician, he should have better judgement than to assiciate with a known, unrepentant, domestic terrorist (Ayers), an obvious racist (Wright), and obvious America haters (Wright, Flager, Farakhan).

I've seen his improve skills on something as unimportant as a town hall question, I wasnt impressed. He should have known that material up and down so there shouldnt be all of those "um"s. Now imagine what he is going to do if he has to improv on something serious, like one of those no precondition talks with the worlds tyrants.

Unless they're polling the electorate.. could care less. Gore won the popular vote in 2000.. we see where he is at now.

fox new's interpretation of a "terrorist fist jab." ironically...fox news is the ONLY media group to refer to a "pound" as a terrorist fist jab.

i can't even count how many times we've heard obama referred to as "osama" and folks calling him by his full name (with emphasis on HUSSEIN). let's see...how many people know OFF HAND joe biden, john mccain, and sarah palin's middle names???? ironic huh? hell, just last week some governor at one of mccain's rallies did it.

yeah...maybe i have been confusing tv with chain e-mails....

OH NO! A POLITICIAN WHO ASSOCIATES WITH TERRORIST!?!? give me a break. i wonder how many of our presidents had tea with saddam before we killed him? how presidents captured him and let him free before this last deal? none of our presidents never associated themselves with bin laden??? i wonder who funded the old al qaeda fight against russia....noooo couldn't have been america. reverend wright has a disdain for white people....OH MY! WHAT'S THIS WORLD COMING TO!?! wright better get his act together...it's 2008...america is supposed to hate muslims right now. the time to hate blacks or whites has passed...he needs to get over it. never mind the terrible things he might've had to live through. follow the path of mccain...embrace your enemy. i'm sure he loves the vietnamese!

Bad joke saying both should be killed. We dont know what was being discussed before that, and honestly the names are very similar and with the amount we heard about Osama I am suprised that mistake hasnt been made moer often.

I actually agree with that. I agree that someone that would have a long relationship with a known terrorist must agree to a point. I'm not saying that Obama was going to strap a bomb to his chest and blow up the capital building, but he agrees to a point. Dont forget that Ayers said that he "didnt do enough" after 9/11.

That has the same affect as Obama pointing out McCains age on so many occations. It is a political move to play on peoples fears. Sort of like the McSame rhetoric to play on peoples economic fears.

Those presidents met with them after preconditions were met. In this case Obama says he wants to meet without preconditions.

Only Bush Sr. who gave into the Eurpoeans and didnt take him out of office. Funny how those same eurpoean countries that wanted Sadaam in power are the ones that proftted from oil for food.

Actually America funded the Mujahideen who Bin Laden was a part of. Al Qaeda in its present form didnt come on until after the US withdrew its support in Afghanistan.

So you are OK with spreading racism? Or is it only ok to be a racist if you have experienced it? I ahve been told "go away white boy" before, so because I have experienced racism it is ok for me to be a racist?

I actually look further down on a racist that has experienced racism than I do a racist that has never known what it feels like.

the irony is NOBODY ELSE SAID IT...only her. if she felt "justified" or whatever the case may be, then why did she apologize later? the excuse she gave in the apology had something to do with "addressing other media statements." i had a hell of a hard time finding ANY OTHER media source referring to it as such...only fox news.

I KNOW what was being discussed before that...i can give you a link to the entire conversation. her calling the man "osama" was probably part of her "joke," not some mistake.

do you know anyone that steals or has stolen before? do you know anyone that sells or uses drugs? because you have a "relationship" with them, has nothing to do with whether you sympathize or agree. ayers was a college professor...i'm sure he didn't get all "far-left" after he became an educator. i'm sure there were plenty of essays and papers that he wrote prior to getting into his position that were identifiers with what his position is . i guess his students are sympathizers also...

that's EXACTLY the point i'm making. playing on people's fears...well what fear is mccain playing on by using the man's middle name? muslim extremist maybe...??? how can you even compare that to the idea of mccain's age? the difference is...ONE IS TRUE ONE IS NOT. mccain is old as hell...telling people "he might die" is more true than "because his middle name is hussein, he's a muslim extremist." he has also ADMITTED himself that he agreed with bush 90% of the time, that's not something obama made up.

lol, ooohhh i got it. so it's ok to sit and have tea with terrorist if there are pre-conditions. how do you know obama didn't say to ayers "i'll only drink tea with you if you promise not to blow up anything else." here's a question...if ayers is such a terrible man, how come he's still alive and walking in the u.s.??? i mean it's the u.s.! we drop bombs on countries who fu.ck with us.

you're diverting the point. regardless of WHY nobody took the man out (mind you we actually "captured" saddam on 3 different occassions) the point is their relationship with him was what it was. because bush set him free, KNOWING he would continue to terrorize his people, did that mean bush sympathized or agreed with it?

so magically after the U.S. withdrew from iraq, bin laden and his crew became extremist? i highly doubt it. we had more to gain at that point so it didn't matter. much like obama gained funding from ayers...gained SPIRITUAL guidance from wright...i don't understand why obama's situations can't be treated the same as ANY OTHER president.

I actually look further down on a racist that has experienced racism than I do a racist that has never known what it feels like.
i'm not justifying it by any means. wrong is wrong. the point is, that's his pastor...nothing more. obama denounced the man's words...what more do you want? ok, so every sunday for 20yrs he went to the man's church. i'm sure he didn't go to learn how to be a racist...he went to find God. believe it or not, even black people get tired of other black folks who blame EVERYTHING on the white man. the news consistently plays 1 or 2 speeches from wright. if the man was such a die-hard racist...then there should be 20yrs worth of racist rhetoric...right? wright's speech could've come from anywhere. hell, maybe he had a bad day or something...who knows. what i find ironic is a lot of you on here call the man a racist...but i BET you never even listened to a word of what the man had to say. like you tried to say earlier "we don't know what happened before that." i guess that rule only applies to white women who joke about wanting to kill obama and osama huh?

"I hate the gooks," McCain said yesterday in response to a question from reporters aboard his campaign bus. "I will hate them as long as I live."
maybe nobody cares because "gooks" don't make up the american majority, so it's not deemed racist in this country. maybe him and wright went to the same seminary school.
