Default Waiting in long lines to vote?

Can some one tell me why in a metro atlanta area, there is a five hour long wait or more for early voting.
When I lived in Macon I was in and out in ten minutes. That is a higher income area, this county I currently live in a more populated, but probably considered a lower income area as a whole. Seems like some bullshit going on.
This is yet another reason to vote.
It sucks that it makes it hard for the average person to take time off and work. I know I can't afford to take off any time.

Quote:Clayton County Voters Stand In 12-Hour Lines

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. -- While the polls officially closed at 7 p.m. Monday night in Clayton County, the line to vote at the Frank Bailey Senior Center in Riverdale didn't clear up until 1 a.m. Tuesday morning.
Advance voting began in Georgia Monday -- and the first day proved to be a long one for many voters.

Clayton County voter Patricia Lewis finally voted in Riverdale after standing in line to vote for six hours. "I vote in every election and I couldn't pass this one up. I think about my dad, about the struggles he went through and for me to vote again is just amazing," Lewis.
VIDEO: Clayton County Voters Stand In 12-Hour Lines
When asked about the long line, Lewis said, "It's OK. I stand in lines to shop. Six hours to vote...it's nothing."

Lewis had lots of people to keep her company. For much of the day, Clayton County voters stood in line for eight to nine hours to cast their ballots.

Clayton County's election supervisor, Annie Bright, blamed the state. She said the computer mainframe the state uses to check voter registration became overwhelmed and didn't start working correctly until 4:30 p.m. Monday. The Secretary of State's Office said Clayton County should take the blame. The office said back-ups took place intermittently and didn't last long enough to cause eight hour delays.

Channel 2 talked to one poll worker who worked an 18 hour shift. She still didn't complain about the problems. She said she was just glad to see so many people interested in voting. "It makes me feel good," said election worker Beatrice Lyons. "They can just come and stay all night and I'll be right here."

Lyons said she saw some people arrive at 1 p.m. Monday and they didn't vote until 12:45 a.m. Tuesday.

Advance voting continues in Georgia for the rest of the week.

I truthfully think that lines are going to be better on Tues. As there will be more places to vote and less people that are voting as most of them are voting early

I am at the Kroger shopping center off of grayon hwy. --got here at 8a and just coming up to the front of the building. I drove by the Singleton activity building yesterday and decided not to vote there since my car would have to scale the curb into the grass to park.

**update - took 3.5 hrs. to get to the ballot.

You can just go back to the county you are registered in. I live in Fulton and vote in Gwinnett.

I have no idea why it seems everyone in this state now thinks they have to vote early. I've voted in every election since my 18th birthday while living in three different states and I have never waited over an hour to vote. And that longest I waited was because I waited until 6:30pm to go to the polling place. For early voting, counties have five or ten places to vote where on election day, it's in the 100's if not more. Why stand in line for 5 hours for something that will take you no more than an hour or MAYBE two if you live in a really big precinct?

I'll be voting on election day at the polling place that is walking distance from my house.

I really don't get it. What's the hurry?

waited 5 hours yesterday to vote since i cant do it Tuesday....well worth it to keep Obama out. When I first got there and was the last person in line a few women walked up to get in line and then decided to say "helll naw I aint doin this shit" when I told them that I heard it was 5 hours from where we were. I just wanted to scream, "THANK GOD!"

It didn't seem like 5 hours though, i was chatting with everyone around me and listening to Boortz on my iPhone (FINALLY WSB developed a way to stream live to the iPhone/iPod touch).
