87-91 RX7 Turbos II's came stock withe the 13BT. FD's had the 13B-REW. Cosmos had the 13B-RE. All are turbo 13Bs.
Are you wanting to buy a reman, or do you need additional parts, such as tranny driveshaft, rear end, etc? What are you using for engine management? What is it going in?

Yep, going in the truck. I found multiple complete swaps on Ebay. 13b for arund $1500 with wiring harness and tranny and everything else I would need and I found a couple 20b swaps for around $2500, whats the power difference between the two?Originally Posted by b18hatch

How good are you with fabrication? You will need to do a lot of it to mount the motor, lines, etc. It's not a direct bolt-in. If you have the right tools and knowledge, it's not too bad.
I would suggest you start with a running TII setup that you buy ready to go. Preferably a running car. It will be much cheaper because you will already have the tranny, driveshaft, ecu, harness, etc.
did the 20b come in any of the older rx7s or just the last generation, I want the more powerful one. I think my fab skills are pretty good, Ive put a few engines in cars they didnt belong in. Im gonna build this truck from the frame up so I might even try to make an rx7 rear end fit under the back, Im sure it can all be done and it doesnt seem like it would be too hard. I know it will all fit in there its just a matter of building motor/tranny mounts and some crossmembers. Im hoping Mr. 2JZKIDD or somebody at Mainstream Performance will get it running after I get it in the truck, Im not soo good with wires.
Ok, first off, the 20B only came in the Cosmo - overseas. Never was shipped to the States. And it only came with an automatic transmission. It can be put on a 13B tranny, but that will run you more money. If you want to keep this affordable, I really suggest the 13B. You will have a hard enough time hooking up with it.
Second, get a 13BT, not a 13B-REW. It's not going to make a difference for you except to you wallet. Get a complete TII - any year will work (87-91). I would suggest getting the 87 as the car will cost you less. S5's get expensive and have more electronics. The TII tranny and rear end are bulletproof.
You will need almost everything from the car. Put all of the stock stuff in first, you can upgrade and build later.
If you use the stock ECU for now, you will run just fine. With that, you can add a FMIC, some larger secondary injectors, a SAFC and boost controller, and make a good bit more power.
I can get it up and running and tune it easily.
So can you do the wiring? Like I said, I can get the motor bolted up and make it fit in the truck but wiring is gonna be the biggest issue for me. I dont know shit about the rotary. Im gonna go with the 13bt, I might buy it for my wife for christmas, haha. Also, you think I need to buy an entire RX-7 and not just the motor, tranny and ECU? I saw alot of listings on Ebay for "entire swaps". Ill start looking for an 87 model. I will have the car by the time I come home for good in March and thats when Ill get on the swap. With a good amount of mods to the engine, how much power can I expect to get from it? And one last question, does the 87 RX-7 have a 5 or 6 lug pattern. The truck I have has a 6 lug and the selection of rims for a 6 lug is limited so Im wanting a 5 lug conversion.Originally Posted by David88vert
Get the whole car. You will probably want a lot of the factory parts - like coils, sensors, etc. It makes life much easier. If you get a swp with out it, often the harness is cut. If you don't have the factory harness, or ecu, you will have to spend on a Haltech. I'm just trying to suggest you get it in an running first. It's much easier if you just start with a full setup.
Wiring the motor is a breeze.
All of the 87-95's are 5 lug.
You won't need a lot of mods to the motor. Stock setup with minor mods will get you around 200rwhp. If you do it right, you can make around a 400rwhp daily driver. You will have traction issues though. Of course, you can go even higher, but you won't be able to utilize it unless we install traction control. I can get that also if you need it.

you can find alot of turboIIs laying around with blown motors. People put the hks down pipe on there which causes boost to creap to 12lbs where the ecu cuts FUEL, then boom...rebuild time.
the 2nd gen motors have the motor mounts on the middle of the engine where as the 1st gens are on the front and 3rd gens in the rear.
these turbo motors are good for around 130k + if treated right
