Never had a turbo D beat me. As a matter of fact, my last hatch which was unfortunately stolen (sure miss her) beat the pants off a Boosted D. It wasn't even a competition. Sorry buddy.... But if yall D series lovers want to keep trying to make a fuel saver motor into a race motor and spend thousands more to make the same power as a b series go right ahead. Knock your self out. But just for the record, I don't hate d series. To the contrary I love the d-series in my daily driver.
It gets 40 miles to the gallon!!!!![]()

yes, ur right, a built or boosted d series will never keep up w/ a built or boosted b series, thats obvious.
I just dont think u grasp the concept that itll cost probably 5-6 grand to do a motor swap and put a turbo on the b so as to be able to take a boosted d. I know i dont have that kind of money.
And who said anything about wanting to build a freaken race motor, im talking 200 whp on a otherwise stock motor which will make our d series a hell of lot of fun to drive. A lot of us just want a really fun daily driver, not some 9-10 sec drag car.
I wasn't talking about boosting the b-series. I wasn't talking about a 9 sec car. You clearly can't grasp the concept that for the SAME amount of money, the b-series would be better. My previous hatch cost only $2800 with a b-series swap. It ran the crap out of a boosted d series which cost far more money to put together. Hell. I could have bought a $500 EF and swaped in a H22a with cams for less money than a boosted D and still been faster and had a very fun daily driver. But no matter what, what I've learned is d-series people eventually learn that their motors are dead end pits, with a horrible money to hp ratio. Its all about value. And d series motor just don't offer a good return on the investment.

alright, sry for any hostility in my last post
to be honest, i would love to put like a b18c in my car right now, but only if i had the money to do stuff to it afterwards, which i wouldnt (dont even think i have enough money for the swap itself)
Ive been searching about this stuff for awhile now trying to figure out what i wanted to do in my 97 ex coupe (d16y8) and i have found that i could turbocharge my existing motor for a lot less than doing a motor swap and still be making more power and especially more torque (around 190 or so compared to a b18c's 110-115 im guessing at the wheels)
And that torque would come around 3500 rpm so i wouldnt have to rev the crap out of my motor to get anywhere, which would, in my eyes, make it a much funner (this should be a word, dang it) car to drive everyday on the street, i wouldnt always be having to downshift to get goin.
Thats what i have found from my research on this stuff, around 200 whp and 190-195 wtq compared to even a b18c5's 170-175 whp and 115 tq (these r just my estimates on the motor, havnt actually seen a dyno of one)
man, i love seeing little d series motors putting down numbers like that
Is that urs??
nice
damn, thats freaken awesome
damb.... i will never see that kind of power.
Wow!!... but I'm not boosting....
just get an H22, problem solved...
nope I still want handling...and I'm just sticking w/ a mini me swap...
i think i will be happy with turboing my y7
^Just do it right the first time, don't dick around with tuning, etc. and you'll be happy.
If you want a d series to build, i have a d16y8 bottom end, complete for sale 50$, it needs a new rod bearing. its got a slight knock, but can be rebuilt for sure.
prob get a kit for like under 150$ and rebuild it.
i got a d16y7 head in perfect condition for 50$ also
complete with valve cover.
So the debate is about the benifits of boosting a stock D series compared to buying B series swap, yes. So where does this fully built, highly modified and over boosted d-series back the argument. If thats so, how about an equally built and boosted B series. These numbers are old and out of date. Its up to 732whp and about to be 800whp. Sorry. Who's your DADDY!:idb:
