I am thinking about building my D series in my 99 civic rather than doing a swap. I was just wanting to know how much HP other people got out of there D series and how before I make my decision on what to do.
thanks,

thanks,
The guys over at Mahdavi claim they can get 190Whp on a boosted D series engine so I guess that much is possible with the right parts and the right tuning. Give those guys a call they are always friendly and willing to help out.
well instun noodoh made 230hp and like 179lbs of torque on a slipping clutch and a STOCK d16y8 motor during tuning
scttyd411 on a non vtec d is like 190+ hp
203whp 198wtq on my y7 w/ 104k miles. been boosted for over 2yrs all stock internals.

think it is kinda bad ass when a D kicks a B's ass
do not BUILD a D series. i would turbo your stock motor if its in good shape. if not, then get a LS swap or a B16

why do you say that "you would not build a D series?"
i saw a sleeved d16 in import racer or honda tuning make 320+ at the wheels with a turbo. of course, that is a magazine. b series is the way to go IMO though.
...sorry to crash the thread but does anyone have a header and 02 sensor for a d-series?! I need one for a hatch si asap.
you messing up my thread.
j/k it's cool
Building it for na apps is not worth it. I have a stock header, no o2 sensor
i think it was Bisi rghnskdjbngkdfbgkb or something like that that was running a D series and was kicking ass... i guess its all about how muhc money u can spend.
Bisi Ezerioha is running a SOHC but it is an F22 Accord engine. He also is running a custom crank w/ a different stroke that he machined himself. He also is running methanol! lol. So, you build a 15k dollar race SOHC and yeah you can make 340whp but you'll need it to be in a 1200 lb insight like he's running as well. I know I'm late one this one but just saw it and wanted to throw it in.Originally Posted by LS2ner

d-series is a good way to go. im running 12psi on a d16z6 with head studs.. 350+whp is possible with forged internals and mild head work with a evo3 16g
hey jason, what year Si? ive got a few stock d-series exhaust manifolds lying around mom's basement
i am looking for a good deal on a turbo kit (good yet low in price) this is the best i have found.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...PcY_BIN_Stores
is this good? and also. does anybody know of a better deal?
thanks,
she bought a stock manifold with sensor for like $40 off eBay...it's a '94 though.Originally Posted by green91
dude i was kicking ass with my d16y8,no ac or ps,shorty header, nkg wires, custom tubing exhaust and a exedy racing clutch it was pretty quick for a sohc i would build it up a little and then turbo that bitch and you will have a quick car
go all motor, sink ridiculous amounts of money into it and land in the 150 whp group. and feel the satisfaction. thats what im doing

yea, that is the thing i dont have.
with the sc I should be around 165HP, 150 HP to the wheels. Haven't been to the dyno yet though so that's all speculation. Hitting 150 HP NA is going to be tough, and by the time your done you could have bought a B18C5 (Integra Type-R) swap.
there has been talk of putting in a d17 crank and making a d-series stroker for cheap
Hey civic95, you still got those vent shades? Haha I could never get in contact wit you...
i have a d17. im hopin to hit 130 at the wheels. gonna be a battle.
good luck. I've got a b16 looking to hit 180 to the wheels
are you guys going all motor?
yeah they are all motor

oh ok, well, good luck, lol, i'm gonna take the easy way out and boost
Don't waste the time with the d-series. NA or Boosted, its like trying to run boost through a restricter plate motor. The d-series heads are so restrictive even Port and Polished and the SOHC was designed for fuel efficiency and cost effectivness not performance. Talk to anyone... Peter who owns the 9sec gold hatch at Import Source Performance or Sammy at Tiger Racing or even anyone on a tight budget and they will tell you that the D-series is a dead end road. The money spent to attain even stock B-series power could buy you a much better motor that you will be much happier with.
I think your mad because a turbo d beat you.Originally Posted by djmaddmartin
