Default Whats the Best B-series All motor build for my DD

I am thinking about rebuilding my engine this fall. It's a B18C1 with 88k miles, but like all B-series VTEC engines, it burns a little oil. I figure while I am going to have it in the shop for the timing belt service soon, I might as well get a few other things done. This car is my DD so I like the fact that it gets 25+mpg. I would like to keep it at atleast 20mph or so. I am thinking about getting a set of oem pistons (PR3 or P73 maybe, and .25 over), new oem rods (with ARP rod bolts), ACL bearings, getting the rotating assembly balanced, and having all the tolerences checked and whatever else may come from that (I.E. line hone, etc) For the top end, I am thinking about two different things.
    1) Get a set of skunk2 pro 1 cams and a set of aftermarket valve springs and chromoly retainers, or...
    2) sell the stock P72 head (which is actually in excellent condition) and buy a P73 head and IM, Buy a set of skunk2 Pro1's, and maybe a set of valvesprings.

I also plan on MAYBE converting to a OBDI ECU and having it dyno tuned to make sure I am getting the most power out of that setup.

Basically I would like to convert the B18C1 into a B18C5, without buying a whole engine. Like I said, this is my DD, so I want a reliable setup with about 20% more power than I have now. I am looking for about 170-180whp. I also don't want to spend an arm and a let. The transmission in the car is smooth and has no grinds or whining input shaft.

All B-series guys tell me what you think the best setup would be (best being most reliable and best bang for the buck)

reps given for any useful info

edit: I would also like to know the compression ratio of these setups:
    1) GSR block/head with PR3 pistons
    2) GSR block/head with P73 A0 pistons (USDM ITR)
    3) GSR block/head with P73 00 pistons (JDM ITR)
    4) GSR block P73 head with P73 A0 pistons (I guess it would 10.6:1)
    5) GSR block P73 head with P73 00 pistons (same as jdm itr 11.0:1 i guess)
    5) GSR block PR3 (or P30) head with P72, PR3, or P73 pistons

I know its a long list, but I have searched around and I am having a hard time finding C/R for the different pistons usinga P72 head, since most data is from a PR3 or P30 B16A head.

EDIT: for those who don't know what kind of car I have, its a Milan Red 97 GSR (88k original miles)

x2 If you want good MPG then get an H22 Complete Changeover and swap that into your car. Which you didnt mention what it is. It will give you plenty of torque and will give you more MPG because it takes less power to pull your chassis whatever it might be. No replacement for displacement.

I don't want to go with a H22A, I have already had a car with a built H22A, so I want to try something new. I had a JDM H22A SiR S-Spec, Euro R IM, cams, and a jun spec ecu. It was cool and all, but expensive.

As I said, this is my DD, so I dont want to swap engines, unless it is another B-series engine. I like My A/C and P/S. My fiance drives it sometimes, and she likes the A/C and P/S as well.

oh yea and the car is a GSR, duh.

CTR, nope. ITR yes. I had this same itch with my B16. I bought a B18C1 block, since I work at a Ed Voyles I got employee prices on USDM ITR new parts, I bought ITR pistons for $33 a peice, and I kept the B16 head. This made 162whp. I didnt get the ITR cams cuz i was out of money but that would have put me over 170whp i bet. So if thats all you're looking to make I'd say using OE parts is the way to go to keep it dependable.

Oh and for new OE ITR cams they are like $350 per cam, so those prices you're finding are accurate.

lol why would I do that? The motor I have now only has 88k.... I want either to rebuild this engine, or buy a new one. Its just personal preference. Theres no point in replacing my 88k mile B18C1 with a 80k mile B18C1....

So upon doing more research, I am starting to come up with a plan.
    1) B18C1- rebuild using JDM ITR P73-00 pistons, (which should yiels about 11.3:1 C/R), Oem ITR rods with ARP rod bolts, Keep my P72 head and get a set of CTR or ITR cams, some upgraded valve springs and retainers, A Skunk2 type R style intake manifold, larger throttle body, a JDM 4-1 header with 2.5" collector, high flow cat, RS*R Exmag or fujitsubo legalis catback, and a P73 ECU with a good tune (Crome pro maybe). Hopefully that will get me in the 170-180whp range.

what do you guys think about that route?

I am. They are not that much different though. same lift as ITR, but the CTR intake cam has 3 degrees more duration than the ITR. Exhaust cams are the same.

I thought there was a greater difference than that. Then why the hell do they cost so much more than the itr's? it's doesn't make any sense to me. I'll keep an eye out for you to see If I can find them for less than the $700 price that's on them.

I guess the itr's will do fine then...
