I said consistently in the other thread that chips car was running 11s 4-5 years ago. And it made less power then my old 240whp engine. He's just that good a driver, that good setting the car up. He is THE all motor guy to beat because he's consistent. There's virtually nobod running 11s all motor in ga no matter what the engine. Hp is almost pointless, low 12s high 11s takes chassis setup and gearing, perfect launches, etc. Going from 12.5 to 11s is a HARD THING TO DO.
As for h22 jones, his car is fast but it's just not setup to run as fast as discos car. He doesn't have the gearing, the lightest chassis, right tires etc. He has a lot of work to get there, but he can do it he's a very smart guy and knows what he's doing. But I think his car is a daily driver too.
I had an extremely fast 1800lb hf Crx with a 240whp motor. And I'm man enough to say street racing it was fast, track wise I'd prob run 13s. It's just extremely hard to get a car set up perfectly and anyone that has done this knows what I'm talking about.
As for stover, he's won how many events the last two years? He's had a lot of trouble with his car over the years and I've seen or witnessed most of it. But when to make 800whp shit breaks. He also doesn't have an unlimited budget. He doesn't have backup motors and trannys laying around. Again it's extremely hard to just go make xxx whp and run 9s. It doesn't happen. Peter ran 9s with 650 whp then made 1000whp and had 1000 more problems in his new chassis.
Bottom line is matt is prob the most humble guy I know. He loves the sport and is a great competitor. He has never "to my knowledge" run his car at full tilt. I believe he runs around 600-650 whp and tries to keep it consistent. There's a lot of bugs to work out in an 800whp car (as Peter learned).
There's not a ton of people running 9s in the southeast. Our track prep sucks.
Congrats matt, chip
Get em jones!
