Do you remember two weeks ago, the story about the foxes, we haven't heard anything else about it since. What the hell does dogs being bred to fight have to do with Michael Vick. It doesn't make it any less illegal just because they were bred to fight. Just like it doesn't make it any less illegal when you shoot someone with a gun that was made to kill.

Are you talking about a slaughter house? If so, that's totally different. We EAT what they kill there. It is a necessary evil, unless you're a canibal. The only similarities between a slaughter house and a dog fighting ring is that there is death in both. That's it. Get my point? Difference is one person gets locked away for up to 5 years, the other no jail time depending on the case.

A penalty is used to detour the behavior, Vick has lost in excess of $100 Million dollars and most likely his livelyhood.. he has lost more than most of us will ever see in a lifetime.. THAT is a penalty and I guarantee without jail time Vick would never want to see another Pit Bull again.. so again I feel the punishment does not fit the crime because he has been well penalized more than any of us ever would without any chance of commiting the crime again.

Well, murder is a federal crime so the punishment doesn't vary from state to state. There are however many other factors that go into sentencing. Not every case is balck and white.
