..::Have Expierence with Dash Harness::..

Well I was wondering what all wires will need to be spliced to use a Da harness in a Ef hatch.My car had a Da engine and dash harness my friend redid the engine harness but I was wondering to use the dash harness what wires had to be spliced?Or could I use a Ef stock dash harness with Da engine harness and would it be plug and play.Really need my car running so if you have any knowledge HELP ME!And I mean need its not just a want.Being on foot or waiting on rides isnt going to get it,Been on foot for about a year and I think its about that time to get back riding.

That is sooooo the wrong way to wire an engine swap. You're supposed to adapt your stock engine harness to your new engine, not adapt the donor car's harnesses to your car, lol.

I actually don't know where to start with this one, I really can't offer any help. Time to break out the wiring diagrams for both cars.

It's hard to say off of someone else's work. I used an OBD1 DA motor in my EF. I never touched the dash harness, just ordered an adapter from boomslang. As for your engine, I believe I ran the EF harness. Some plugs had to be changed and such (Boomslang directions worked like magic) or re-pinned...

What's your ultimate goal? If it was me, I'd quit the headache and get my hands on an engine harness FROM that EF. Then I'd re-pin and do whatever to hook it up to the motor. For the dash harness, I'd be trying to get my hands back on an EF harness.

It looks like someone went way over their head and did more than the necc. work to pull off something...not too sure why they would have...

Oh, yeah...it's also going to matter what ECU you used, the OBD of the motor/ecu vs. the dash, and is the harness from a GSR, OBD1, OBD0 motor? Is the harness from an auto/manual tranny? There's too many questions to simplify this for you, bud...best I can say is what I wrote above...

I'm not really sure why I clicked on this thread. Morbid curiosity, I suppose.

I'm not really sure, like JFRO, where to start. Whoever did the engine swap has done you a great disservice. Getting all the wiring sorted out makes the swap exponentially more difficult than it needed to be. It just so much easier to adapt the car's harness to the engine that I don't even know why someone would choose to adapt the engine's harness to the car.

My recommendation...pull the DA engine harness out and sell it, throw it away...whatever, then get an EF engine harness and modify that to work for the engine.

I didnt do the swap and it was done by some Mexicano fellas back in the 99-00 era.So work with me the engine has already been done repinned and wired correctly.But the dash harness is my big if,I was going to get a stock ef harness and plug it up but I was wondering if that would work because I know Ef harnesses have a little plug that stops right before the fire wall.That looks like a slim resistor box on the passenger side.And the Da doesnt so I was wondering would it work if I got my hands on a stock Ef dash harness and plugged overthing back up like stock.Guess really what I am trying to see is are the plugs compatiable with the Ef dash Vs. Da Engine?

I'm pretty sure they have sedans, so you're better off using a sedan rather than a DA

No. You're not going to find one that is either. Your options right now are as follows:

1. Make what you've got work.

2. Pull it all out and start over, with EF dash and engine harness (matched).

I'm just going to throw this out there since I really have never heared of anyone attempting this.
If you can make an engine harness work by using plugs from another (MPFI, OBD1, etc.) why couldnt you do the same with what he is talkin about doin?
Sure its pointless cause it basically assbackwards, but im sure it could be done with
alittle thought and a wire diagram. Especially if thats all he has to work with at the moment.

I'm just a naturally curious person.

I'm sure it can...just add about a month to your time to figure it all out, splice/re-pinning, re-routing, extending, connecting...and then a good week or two because once it's finally done and he runs into a problem or Engine code he'll need to go back through his whole setup to figure out which one has a bad connection and why it's bad, and re-do it.

I can tell you from personal experience that trying to rig harness's to make it work does not work.

I had a 88 hatch dx where the engine harness was from a 88 crx si. There was nothing plug and play about it and was constantly chasing my arse with codes.

I ended ups saying "f" and parting the car out.

Bad part is some how they got it all to work before my car ran fine obd0 about a year ago.But only problem was that I had a check engine light that stayed on 24/7.And only code it threw was TPS But when the check engine light went off the car wouldnt rev at all but it would stay at constant 3k rpm. I didnt get it ran fine with check but when check went off it stayed at 3k .Other than that it ran fine no other codes were being thrown.

Yea when my friend redid my engine harness he said they didnt reverse them.So that got rid of the Tps code.But since I tried to use the conversion for Obd1 it wouldnt start.I think it was the harness I borrowed my friends conversion kit and im going to try that and see if it works.

car started one time before but wouldnt rev past 1k rpm with WOT .That was before the engine harness was redone.
