Default Turbo BOV on a S/C?

I have a Procharger P1SC and i was wondering if i removed my bov and installed an HKS SSQV, would my blower still function correctly? appreciate.

it all depends on oh your MAF is configurated in your setup. Most of prochargers setups have the MAF after the discharge. If your's is like this you'll be okay. If not you'll have to have the car tuned around the extra turbulance that enters the MAF

Yes you can do it, its just like a turbo car except lower boost. Mustangs are Hot wire so it won't be to bad even if it doest mess with it a little.. its not like you have a karman vortex maf setup. Plus a HKSSSQV is a push pull design so it doesn't leak at idle.

I knew you messed up you knee but I didn't know you had all the parts and pieces. Your car has been down for a while now, it was a bad little biotch before it blew up.

The machine shop had it for 3 months.

The motor is ready to be back installed, its just kinda hard when I can't fully bend my knee.

    ~ok back on topic~

ok, the HKS doesn't leak at idle. but my s/c is always trying to make boost. My BOV right now is like w throttle body. it has a butterfly and it stays all the way open if there is all vaccuum. so...my ? is, if I went with a HKS or turbo BOV, would my car be in boost all the time or how would i be able to regulate the air flow?

Why do you need to change it though?

Just to sound better? If it works now why fuck with it?

well, i know if I go to a larger S/C i need a different type of BOV. it is called the Procharger....shit forgot the name. Kinda looks like a wastegate o...think it is a called a ProValve. I just figured a good name brand BOV would be more efficent than a half ass one made by procharger. Now, the provalve is a very good BOV but i know turbo ones u can find cheaper

Im not understanding what you are saying..

A SSQV works based on the pressure differental between the top and bottom of the valve.. it wont be open and leaking at idle and will be pressed shut even more once you start to drive, once you change gears the outside of the BOV gets vaccum and the inside still sees pressure causing it to open and vent.

    Is yours "aftercooled" ?

mine is intercooled. well...if u asked anyone who raced me. my shit is loud. the air comes pouring out of my BOV at every rpm. but when I hit WOT it snaps shut so all the air goes straight into the motor. i'm heading out, but i appreciate all the help!

IOk, on a centrifugal like you have, yes, you can run a BOV since your TB is after the s/c itself. I, unlike yopu, cannot because i have a roots blower which puts the TB in front of the s/c so one the TB is closed..theres no air to vent.

On your car, the TB controls boost in the intake manifold. If the s/c is making boost at idle, then the BOV will be making noise all the time at idle and until the BOV sees NO boost in the intake tube. The best way to know is to hook up a boost gauge before your TB to see what it is doing.

As for tuning, the only problem is a rich spike between shifts and fast stops after being on the throttle.

In a roots still blower there is still a by-pass valve, it is just vented back into the manifold just like a draw-thru MAF system the BOC/By-Pass valve is AFTER the Mass Air Flow Sensor. If your setup was like this it would be retuned because it would release metered air after the MAF. But with most Procharger kits the MAF is used in a blow-thru design which means the MAF is after the discharge.

If you go with the Procharger Race BOV it WILL stay open at idle, and while it's still making vacuum. It will start to close it self when you get closer to building boost, then it will hold itself closed, then quick release when shifting... the Procharger Race BOV sounds like a waterfall at idle. I would think twice about installing this peice, it is expensive, and very very loud at idle. Good luck finding them because they're discountinuing it soon.

If it is a draw thru design you will have to route the BOV discharge back into the S/C power pipe like this picture: (I don't know how to resize, so if it's a pain, get over it.)

    Procharger Race BOV:

Video- Notice the MAF is positioned after the S/C Discharge tube. This is the way you need to have yours set up. http://videos.streetfire.net/video/2...3100fe1edd.htm

Also it can depend on what kind of MAF you are using... And you won't have an spike if the car is tuned correctly. I have no issues with fuel or boost spiking, even with a hobbs switch for my aux. fuel system it doesn't spike when I reach boost the car drives better than from the factory.

If you need some custom fab, let me know I can TIG weld, very well.
