Default unsuccessful cars you wish were more popular. *SNWS*

Unknown or unsuccessful cars that SHOULD be more popular than they are. Maybe even throw in some junk cars that could of, should of, would of been cool!

#1 on my list is the "foxbody thunderbird", the turbo coupe specifically...... Foxbody mustangs are rolling legends of the pavement... how did the Tbird get left so far behind????? the 2.3 turbo engine was super fun to tinker with and for the 80s, the tcoupe was a pretty capable car. This was one of the very first cars i ever drove and i loved it.

The Acura Legend. Why did this car fall so short of the integra? civic? prelude or any of the other honda models. It's equally if not more stylish than those models and is plenty sporty

SVT Contour, i think reliability had a lot to do with it, but this car's popularity sank like a rock. You could probably buy one of these now for under $3k.... extremely capable car before it breaks.

Chevy Corvair - how can something so cool be such a piece of junk

anyways, theres a few for me............. add to the list!

Sinfix, I agree that the turbocoupe was a badass ride. The 2.3 that sat in there was the same engine that powered the Mustang SVO when it was around. When I was racing SCCA in the late 90's, my brother-in-law was racing his turbocoupe. Technically, the Legend is still around. In Japan, it is still being sold. Here it was just replaced by the RL. Later, QD.

Te Legend was a successful car, it's just stupid Honda/Acura decided to change the name to RL. Then after changing the name they never gave it a balls, now it's awd 300hp but all the cars that it competes with are rwd and more powerful. Think about the Integra they changed the name to RSX and the same thing happened the car faded away after a few yrs.

Very nice. The Isuzu I-mark turbo was bad. Loved that car. The US never got the turbo Metro, but did get the Swift GT (turbo). Wanted one for the longest time. Funny you mention this car as I was actually going to say the predecessor to the Swift/Metro. The Chevrolet Sprint turbo from 1987 to 1988. Later, QD.

Didnt know the RL was considered the new Legend, but yeah that would be a pretty successful line of cars then.

If Mazda did rwd in it then it would been IMO a very popular car.

I love the white MX6. That body is beautiful. The burgundy one, I always thought, was hideous. Never liked it. And don't write off the popularity of the Beretta. That car was immensely popular when they were new. They were everywhere. Later, QD.

The Probe had potential but didn't pick up very well. As for the SVT Contour, they are becoming more and more popular. All it takes is a 3L swap from a Taurus and a snail attached to it and you have a decently quick car.

Subaru SVX... The window in window, supposedly you could have the window down in the rain and not get wet. Unfortunately if you over tightened the lugs (which wasn't hard to do because spec is like 80ft/lbs) you would burn up the wheel bearings. Also the transmission liked to blow up and the rotors were undersized for the weight of the car and often warped.

Also let me add the Nissan NX2000. You fared a better chance surviving an accident in a wet paper bag.

Got a co-driver that has one. Been trying to get it off him for a while now.

My bro-in-law can get one of these moving like anything. There is a Mercury Lynx GT right down the street from me. Full ground effects on it still from the factory.

Another car, the Isuzu Impulse. Such a cool looking car. Always wanted one of the earlier models. Later, QD.

My #1 is the Chrysler/Plymouth/Dodge Conquest or the Mitsubishi Starion. Maybe it was the crank walk. I still think they were wildly fun.

I agree with the NX2000 opinions. It was a little rocket, but it was a deathtrap.

I think I have actually seen a NX around the Gwinnett area. I take 20 into downtown Lawrenceville everyday after work and have seen a black one quite a few times. Its clean and sounds mean. If I am not mistaken, I believe an older man drives it. I will snap a pic if I see it again.

syclone/typhoon was a definite good drive. awd turbo burnouts...

the subaru svx was a good looking car, but had a wimpy v6 and no manual trans option here in the us...

escorts looked like they had balls, but the brits got the real ones - the cosworths.

the omni/glhs/acclaim turbo cars were also loads of fun...
You're right - I have no idea what I'm talking about...

a lil late to chime in, maybe a lil old. But I always liked them. Chevy Monza, Vega wagon. Buick Grand National.

Chevy Monza 75-80 light chassis with a v8 it only sold 12000 units in a 5 year term. (also had a wagon)

    MY dads weekend warrior.

Vega Wagon 71-77 v8 in it too

I wish chevy would bring them back in a retro fashion.
