Ek hatch target is 250 hp
hey im working on Building a 97 ek hatch to 250 hp im gonna use a b18c spec R as a starting point then dc header, cold air, 3.5 egsaust, no cadlitic conveters, that may put me around 230 i think any sugestions? Plz dont say turbo thats why its posted hear i may consider going with difrent motor but cant afford k20

Not even close.
DC headers won't take you to 230 let alone 250hp. A 3.5 inch exhaust is way too big for an N/A application. WTF is a cadlitic conveter? You might aswell use a gsr or ls/vtec instead of a type-r as a starting point because the head and block would need work to make it to 250hp. But seriously I doubt you have the knowledge to build a 250hp N/A motor. You didn't mention your cam selection, what type of valvetrain you plan on using, or what compression ratio you're going with.
I would recommend you doing A LOT of research or prepare to be quite dissapointed on the dyno
If you can't afford a K swap im pretty sure you can't afford to get 250hp out of a B-series N/A.

U got a lot to learn, do ur research, there is no such thing as DC headers on a 200hp civic. If u want to be above 200 Hp and a good starting point, do a h2b like me

you want be near 200hp with what you got and cams man . It takes i guess around 15000 to buid a 250hp b series . if you want to go all motor go h or k series . if you want to go boost go b series its real simple. It just take a whole lot of money to get a b series were a h series starts off at in the all motor world. i mean 250hp in a h series is a little tuff im not sure if i could do it in a b sereis and if i did it would rev realy high wich cuts down on dependability . i can drive a 252 ho h series every day for a year and a half now you normaly dont find that on b series not hating just stating my opion.

thats true my h22 makes around 205 all motor with simple bolt ons and a tune and on spray it should be around 25o or a bit less. drove it 18 hours straight no problems 32mpg. cant do that ina b

Especially with what you just said above.. with the DC headers and shit..
Do you already have the B series? If so just lower your goal to maybe 195-215 HP or so.. STILL that is with different header, Cams, Valvetrain, pistons, Ect...
I drive my 2** Hp h22 bout 300 sumthing miles a week, and will be driving it back and forth from NC to GA, very reliable to me

if you cant afford a K20 then theres no way you're even going to get close.
if you want to run on pump gas and make anything close to 250 these are my suggestions:
86mm block..
12:5 cr
bisimoto header
2.75-3 inch exhaust
skunk2 pro3 cams.... bc stg 5
and most likely itbs... or at least a performerx with 70 mm tb
port head
and of course all the supporting mods but these are your power gainers.
im not calcutating how much it will be with all these mods but with labor and tuning I would say it will put you over 10k.

Can you make 250whp? yes. Is it worth it (In my opinion) no, with such big cams etc driveability and streetability is compromised.
And Bacon, if he would have slapped some ITB's on it, it would have been over 246 all day.

The car im building now will be h2b and should put down around 280 with a very simple h22 build you just have to make sure its built right . It should still get close to 30mpg and have good drivability (im not using stage three cams) . Realy man just read some on honda tech its not that hard or exspensive to build a dependable all motor h22 . If your planning on building any other all motor i cant help you . kseries is bad ass but your gonna pay and b series is just to small of a displacement to make big all motor hp without reving this piss out of them which means there not going to last long hitting 9500rpms . Its just realy hard on a engine which is why the k series is such a great motor they have been proven to rev high and stay together there just realy pricey.

the head would have full race port and polish
you would have to run atleast E85 to that type of power
compression would have to be at least 14.1compression man
i hate k series because of transmission problems but overall k is easiest motor to hit 250 on pump gas
h22 jones has realiable 250whp on pump gas driven everyday and beat on ocassion
h2b is one greatest overall set up
but good luck man on the build sounds like you have great goal

listen to these guys man. 250whp is hard to get out of a b series and impossible for a 1.8L on pump gas lol and would not be reliable for a DD..if u want a reliable all motor b series shoot for maybe 210-220 whp..i have one and its never given me problems but if you want a reliable 250whp then just sell ur type r long block, keep the tranny and throw it on a h22 some good bolt ons, headwork and cams should put you around 240-250whp
