I am willing to bet when they come, they will not be nearly as dominate at track days as you all think.

What does the Z06 runs around the Nürburgring again? If I have the chance to pick between a Z06 or a GTR, I would pick the Z06, but the Skyline is still a faster car over all.

I used to think that the Nurburg ring times mattered until a friend of mine explained to me that it has way to many variables to be a good comparison. Basically if you have a driver who is willing to go balls to the wall and seriously risk his life above and beyond what normal track hazards would be then he could pick up a significant amount of time. Its sort of like saying my car has done the 285 loop faster than yours......thats a lot of variables

I am pretty sure Chevy has enough money to have its own private section there, just like Nissan and other motor companies do. My point is not saying Nurburg is the sh*t or anything, but to prove a point that it does a faster time compare to other cars. It is like you join a time attack battle and if you are bad luck enough, you would not have your fastest time down.

That doesn't make sense if companies have private sections then there would be no comparison because the the sections would be different maybe you mean private sessions. I don't think a decent comparison will be made until they are both on the exact same track at the exact same time. I would take either of them but i would rather build a s-chassis car that could hand both of them their asses ( yea I know thats the inner-ricer coming out ha ha). If I had equal opportunity to have the GTR or the Z06 i would take the GTR just to have something different.

If you pull up to a porsche at a stop light with a gtr, 9 times out of 10 the guy who is driving the porsche wont know that you are about to fly by him...

^too bad you'll have to unmount those slicks once you leave the track and for everyday driving. I don't think any of the mentioned cars are necessarily better then the other but each has its own pros and cons and accommodate for the vase amount of drivers out their and their sole intent and purpose for their purchase.

Well, bottom line is everybody has their own opinion about the car but it is without a doubt, a bada$$ car. Yea it is an expensive car but some people got it more than others and can afford a car like that. The word on the Z06 and the GTR...Yea the Z06 will probably take the win, tho i'm not a Vette fan, but it will give it a good run for its money. I mean damn, the car was built by testing it against a Porsche 911. Porsches are nice but have you guys ever modded or worked on them? I have and its not as easy as it looks. I don't understand why people talk down about Nissans soo much, Nissans are designed by the smartest muthafukkers on earth. Japanese designers make things so much easier to fix but more reliable than euro and/or domestic cars. I want everybody just to wait until the car hits the street so you can see it for yourselves before you down the car. And we'll how it does up against that Z06.

Threads like these are always good for laughs, not intended for laughs but laughter always "comes around."

LOL @ people who simply cannot handle an opinion that is obviously biased or simply counters their opinion.

    however, carry on...

Heh. Kind of like dyno racers and "when I get these mods on" racers. He is taking things to new heights and racing magazine articles.

Sorry to clutter your thread, Tony. You know I still like ya... even if you will have the slower car, lol. I kid, I kid...

For an all-around car, I will agree the GTR will get the job done.

i also dont think its fair to add variables like tires etc. i mean i like to judge a car how it rolls off the line.. not what u have to do to make it something.

stock v. stock i would bet my money on the GTR overall.. but ive never driven or owned neither!! thats just my comparison.

Everyone makes this car sound like its the best there ever was. Its not.

I would like to see both the GTR and the Z06 on the same tires, at the same track, on the same day, with the same driver. I've seen a stock C6Z06 on road atlanta with race tires and im here to tell you, the GTR wont keep up. Anyone that has done trackdays when a vette is on the track with a good driver can tell you, it just wont happen.

The way I look at it is that the Z06 is a street legal race car and the Nissan is just a hall ass street car.

I will get a full comparison of the two up sometime (unless someone else wants to) just to show the differences between the two.

i disagree not sayin its the best ever....

1st people were saying it wasnt gonna perform better than the previous GTR, it did..

than came the people saying the power isnt really there... it is

than they said it wouldnt perform on the track worth a dam... it does

now i think u all might get the GTR mixed up with the previous skyline GTR because that car was based off a previous platform. BUt the Gtr is all its own and purpose built just like the Z06.

Yeah, so does the vette. Until I see a comparision on the same day, same track, and same tires...im going to go with the vette. Dont get me wrong, the GTR is one sick car and is one of top cars in its class but i dont think its what everyone is making it seem like.

This is what I cant wait to see. The GTR run against the vette, viper, and ferrari in T1 with the SCCA. The cars are stock and most run on the same tire.

    POWER to WEIGHT
    GTR-3794lbs. (autoweek) with 473hp= 8.021
    Z06-3162lbs. (chevrolet) with 505hp=6.261

Just out of curiosity.. if my memory serves me right didnt the GT-R run 2 seconds faster than the Z06 at the Nurburgring? At this point that is the only real comparison we have of the two.

I'm not going to say one is better than the other, if the GT-R didnt have a back seat I wouldnt even consider it.

have u ever raced or watched a race in ur entire life? on a track that long, a twitch of the wheel can be 2 seconds. not running on the same day can be 2 seconds. a lift on the gas or tap on the brakes can be 2 seconds.

its impossible to run a perfect lap at the ring or any track for that matter. thats why i would like to see them in a race. just because u ran the fastest time doesnt mean u have the fastest car...it means u made the least mistakes.

The car isnt even out yet and you're already making excuses. My lack of experience at the track does not discredit official data presented by both manufacturers.. if they're not perfect then don't present it but since they did I will have to assume they were perfect laps.. respectively.

By your logic if the GT-R comes in even a second slower theres an excuse to be found as to why.. I'm sorry I guess mathewAPM has to approve them for them to be official. Don't tell me if the Z06 posted a faster time you wouldn't quote that for the sake of argument.

Just the fact that we are comparing a car that can transport a family of 3 or 4, that I can drive up north to go snowboarding AND still hit the track and be considered a competitor is all the convincing I need. Its a no brainer on my part.

number 1 its not an excuse, its the truth. dont talk until u have experience doing it.

but there not. no one can ever do a perfect lap. not possible at all.

actually no. im not a hardcore chevy fan. im just saying that everyone is hating on the vette because it got beat by 2 seconds. if someone was hating on the skyline i would have said the same thing, im not saying this because i like vettes, im saying this because people think that the 2 seconds were because the car was faster.

its what u like. everyone has a different opinion. and i respect that. but its when people think they know something when they really dont that i argue.

actually no. im not a hardcore chevy fan. im just saying that everyone is hating on the vette because it got beat by 2 seconds. if someone was hating on the skyline i would have said the same thing, im not saying this because i like vettes, im saying this because people think that the 2 seconds were because the car was faster.

its what u like. everyone has a different opinion. and i respect that. but its when people think they know something when they really dont that i argue.
I have zero experience but I am quoting a source that has plenty.. its called second hand experience from a reliable source. What you offer is an assumption since you have driven neither one.

Numbers do not lie. I don't care if the Z06 driver picked his nose during his lap, the GT-R got from point A to point B faster than the Z06. I just explained this to my 6 year old and he nodded his head so surely you can understand what I am explaining here.

As I said, I did not want to like the GT-R. I wanted it to fail miserably so I could feel good about having a better car years ago.. but it hasnt.. whether you like what people are saying or not you have to admit Nissan has shaken up the market.. to the point where we are here bickering over a car we've yet to even see in person.

Daniel.. no hard feelings but if I get one of these we will definitely be meeting up.

lol This has dwindled down to name calling.. its just entertaining to see folks get in a hissy fit over a car that isn't in production here in the U.S. Even if you have driven a Z06 I don't think that makes you an expert of what the GT-R is capable of.. either way, as long as the owner has a grin on his face at the end of the day thats all that matters.

what i have read about the car really impressed me. it beat cars like the mclaren slr around the nuremberg or however you spell it track and they claim it is a ultra low emmision vehicle. thats like a hybrid civic am i mistaken? its not gonna be the fastest thing but i think its original in design and extremly fast for the price. sounds like a winner to me
I asked a girl if i could buy her a drink, she said I have a boyfriend, so I said, well i have a goldfish, she said what? I replied, oh I'm sorry I thought we were talking about shit that doesnt matter.
