here is a panoramic I pieced together. The view is from atop Mt. Yonah just south of helen, ga. It was a 2.6 mile hike to the top!

Yeah, My brother bought one and used it for a day or two and didnt like it, of course thats his opinion, but he snatched up a 70-200 f2.8 sigma. I like his new sigma a lot, its a very nice lens.

it's wayyy to slow...the Canon series III 70-300 is supposedly alot faster and you can get them for like $150. I'm just looking for the best deal on a 70-200 f/2.8L and a 1.4x L for it.

You'll love the quality of the shots. I have it and the 1.4 and 2.0 extenders. The extenders only work right with the non-IS models though. I've never used my extenders yet, although your moon shot got me to thinking....

Ironically enough, I shoot a lot more with the much smaller lens though. It's a little more versatile for when you need a wider FOV. The 200 lens is awesome though for like car events and stuff when you need the distance.

BTW, I've seen a bunch of 70-200 2.8's on Ebay a lot. That's probably going to be your most economical choice, although as you know you have to be careful who you get it from. I have seen lots advertised as new though, so that could possibly be a safer bet for internet buying.

yeah its tuff to find a good deal in a 2.8 lens. His new Sigma wasnt to bad for what it is, I think he paid $750+ for it, but the problem he ran into was trying to find it. took him two weeks and finaly found one in Orlando (wolf Camera) No one would help him locate one, so he just called store after store!

That one is just as bad finding as the 18-200 VR

Yeah my brother would have just got one off of Ebay, but he had a Wolf Camera card.

Just go to the main camera stores on ebay, they normally are listed down the left hand side of the screen under the advanced search list. I buy a lot of my stuff from these stores.

    DigitalCorp....
    Cameta Camera....
    ShopSunshine.....
    J&K Cameras......

and so on, just look at the feedback and rating and that will tell you all you need to know! Im an ebay freak!

The nantahala bridge is a great spot, used to camp on the other side. Then camping during Ranger wars is fun...the contant sound of machine guns: both from sound devices and blanks, guys running by barking commands, & illumination flares launching over the tree lines. Good times

There has been two on craiglist the last couple months in the $800 range but i've been waiting for the wolf camera canon employee purchase to start and see what kind of deal i can get through some friends. It started a couple weeks ago and they're not offering the L's this year and now both are sold on craiglist...soooo, i'm back to where i was 2 months ago when i was ready to get one, argh!

I've been searching around...usually a few good deals on the 100-400 f/4 on there too, it would be a great lens for day time at Road Atlanta!

We'd have to spend $80,000 on the 1200mm to get Matt at a drift event again

LOL what?! The 2.8 HSM that Rush is probably reffering to is not a slow lens.

read again Rush mentioned his brother didn't like it then i said why i don't like it either, backing it up saying the Series III 70-300 is supposedly faster than the older sigma and canon 70-300's....but i don't really care because i want a 70-200 f/2.8

I have the Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 and I'm quite pleased with it. Plenty fast enough for a drift even, and although the manual focus is a bit on the heavy side.

What the Crap is that?! Imagine if your just crusing along at night and come across this stuff. I have another thing that was about 150-200 yards away from it, and we were not quite sure what it was either....

That's interesting, was there water at the top? It appears to be a dam of some sort...and the door tells me it's a pump room or something. Was the lil door locked?!

Well my brother climbed up to where he could see that it was like a marsh/swamp thing(lol...no pun). The Door was locked but I know we could have broken in to it. The only thing we heard inside it was water drips!
