Default Got new replacement windows put in...

My house is 39 years old. We are the only owners this house has ever had having bought it in 1973. These window are the original windows. The only ones this house ever known. Even the glass has never been broken, lolol.

Wednesday, some folks are coming by to install those replacement windows. We're getting the triple-pane set up throughout the house. I decided, with the investment amount as much as it is, that I wanted to get do a pictorial documentation of this move. So below are the pictures of the house as it sits now with the 39 year old windows. Wednesday, I'll be taking pictures of the installation itself followed by pictures of the aftermath.

    ***EDIT!!!***

The folks just left and we have all the new windows in. They're quite nice. You could tell a difference in the windows as soon as they put them in. They really opened up the rooms big time. Not having the glass separated into panes also made a huge difference. Seems to be more viewing area. Very cool shit this is. The last pic is of the window flipped inward. It's actually still mounted just flipped in for cleaning. Every one of the windows do this. Later, QD.

Not yet. That's just a lot of dust and dirt up there The Crepe Myrtle tree to the left had some branches that overhung the roof pretty good until I cut them back. So the roof is good. But I am getting a roof cap in the spring.

My grandparents bought it new in 1973. I moved in it with them in 1975. He moved out in 2007 and let my wife, children and I have it. Later, QD.

I have always liked colonial style homes. Looks like this one has been well kept as well.

Good idea making a pictorial, LOL - when you first said you were getting these I looked up the prices... good googly moogly but it should: a. help add value to your home, b. cut down on heating/cooling costs, and c. tax credit?

Thanks, man. And it's paid for, lolol. And:
    a. yes. nlike pools and such, this is an upgrade so these windows do add value
    b. yes. over time, it will pay off
    c. yes. we get a tax credit on this year's return

This is just in time for winter to come around so I'm anxious to see (on the bills)/feel the difference. Later, QD.

Yeah the "paid for" part definitely makes everything so much better. Let me know how it goes, I'm interested in upgrading my windows as well.

take the time to look up a company to put new insulation in while you are at it... that is if it has not been done already.

    Thanks, punkR6.

The garage has "black-out" curtains over the windows.

And I do my own insulation and it's quite well insulated. But good advice, though. I put attic and crawlspace in last year.

Rain, rain, go away........... Damn I hope it isn't like this tomorrow. I want this done. Later, QD.

Yeah, they worked quick as fuck. Got started about 9am and were out of my driveway by 4pm. It looks funny now because everything else is so old and damn near original and then the fresh, new white paint blasts out at you. Next spring, we are going to be replacing the siding and going with a new color for it. So this is just the first step.

And I'll keep folks updated on how/if it has any effect on the bills.

Thanks for the compliments. These windows opened up the room big time. Without having the panes in the there, it really feels like every window is a picture window. So much more viewable space it feels like. Oddly enough, as much as it opened up the rooms, you wouldn't see how because the glass is tinted a bit. Later, QD.

What color are you going to go with the siding? I was going to make a post asking if you were going to paint the new window trim to match the old ones, but seems you have other plans.

They are a good investment though, and it def looks a lot better than the old windows.
    good stuff!!

Thanks, folks. We're thinking in the Spring of putting new siding on the house. Luckily the siding is only part of the house. We're looking at doing the concrete siding. Not sure of the color yet, but leaning towards some sort of yellow or peach color that is found in the brick. As far as trim and shutters go, they may go towards white with the windows. We'll see, I spose. Later, QD.
