On Friday evening I got a call from Christine that she was in Atlanta. She was 3 hrs ahead a schedule as she was able to get an earlier flight. After fighting friday night traffic I was able to pick Christine up at the airport and we headed to Tampa, FL to stay at her moms house. After a 7 & a half hr drive we arrived in Tampa at 1:30am. Where we received a warm welcoming from her mom and went to bed!
We woke early on Sat. to a nice breakfast and Christine's excited mom. After breakfast we went to the local W-mart and picked up a few last minute supplies.
Upon reaching the ship we grabbed a quick bit to eat as we got there early and our room wasn't ready just yet. After lunch we went to the side of the boat and had Christine's mom take a few pics. We then went to our room, settled in and went to the Paris Lounge for the safety drill. After that we went out to the top deck and watched the boat leave the harbor.
We played around the ship, had a few drinks and then went to dinner. Where after waiting in line for 30 mins (we got there early) we found out that the had waited in line for the wrong dining room. Upon finally reaching our table we discover that we had been given a private table! I was later told by the server that this table was reserved for those who were getting married *wink* I told them that they had the wrong idea and we had lucked out with the nice private table.
The next day we woke early (5:30am) and went outside to watch the sun rise. IT WAS CHILLY when we went outside (50s). After looking around the ship a little more we found a table outsides and had cups of hot chocolates and then added some coffee in there.
Getting hungry, Christine and I decided to go inside, get a change of clothes and head to the formal dinning room, to eat a "sit down" breakfast. When I say that I mean that we make our order and it it brought to us rather then just going to the buffet and picking out food. The formal dinning room had better food to choose from. During our first breakfast we met an older couple and enjoyed talking about our backgrounds. We sat and talked for an hour and got to know each other (we would bump into them again later).
After breakfast we went to TRIVIA!!! It was a 20 question game on the history of Carnival; keep in mind this was my first cruise I figured we were wasting our time but why not play along anyways. Well guess what?!? LOL turns out I won the trivia...LOLthe lady next to me had been on 15+ Carnival cruises and was ready to strangle me for winning a "gold plated plastic trophy" bwwaha ha ha ha ha!!!
During trivia we kept looking outside noticing how beautiful the sun look, so we decided to throw on our swimsuits and head to the back of the boat and were able to get seats back in the serenity area (21+) and enjoyed a yummy lunch and just relaxed!
The following day was spent at sea we played on the boat and had a lovely dinner, after dinner we went and saw SHOUT in the Paris Lounge. After the show we went out to the deck to get some air as the ship was rocking a lot, once outside we noticed that the deck was completely soaked, really ODD!!!
The next morning I woke up at 4 am to the boat rocking a lot! It felt like I was being picked up off my bed and softly set back down on it. It turned out that the ship was in a mild tropical storm and there were 70 mph winds hitting the boat causing all kinds of havoc! We were scheduled to be in Grand Cayman at 6am but we were over an hour behind schedule! Then due to the bad weather and swells our sting ray excursion was cancelled. SO we wandered around the island finding a cache and eating at a local restaurant. After a light snack we went and stood in the water for a few mins before heading back to the ship. We headed straight to the serenity area of the ship and relaxed while heading to Cozumel, Mexico.
