Default My Western Caribbean Cruise and Thanksgiving!

On Friday evening I got a call from Christine that she was in Atlanta. She was 3 hrs ahead a schedule as she was able to get an earlier flight. After fighting friday night traffic I was able to pick Christine up at the airport and we headed to Tampa, FL to stay at her moms house. After a 7 & a half hr drive we arrived in Tampa at 1:30am. Where we received a warm welcoming from her mom and went to bed!

We woke early on Sat. to a nice breakfast and Christine's excited mom. After breakfast we went to the local W-mart and picked up a few last minute supplies.

Upon reaching the ship we grabbed a quick bit to eat as we got there early and our room wasn't ready just yet. After lunch we went to the side of the boat and had Christine's mom take a few pics. We then went to our room, settled in and went to the Paris Lounge for the safety drill. After that we went out to the top deck and watched the boat leave the harbor.

We played around the ship, had a few drinks and then went to dinner. Where after waiting in line for 30 mins (we got there early) we found out that the had waited in line for the wrong dining room. Upon finally reaching our table we discover that we had been given a private table! I was later told by the server that this table was reserved for those who were getting married *wink* I told them that they had the wrong idea and we had lucked out with the nice private table.

The next day we woke early (5:30am) and went outside to watch the sun rise. IT WAS CHILLY when we went outside (50s). After looking around the ship a little more we found a table outsides and had cups of hot chocolates and then added some coffee in there.

Getting hungry, Christine and I decided to go inside, get a change of clothes and head to the formal dinning room, to eat a "sit down" breakfast. When I say that I mean that we make our order and it it brought to us rather then just going to the buffet and picking out food. The formal dinning room had better food to choose from. During our first breakfast we met an older couple and enjoyed talking about our backgrounds. We sat and talked for an hour and got to know each other (we would bump into them again later).

After breakfast we went to TRIVIA!!! It was a 20 question game on the history of Carnival; keep in mind this was my first cruise I figured we were wasting our time but why not play along anyways. Well guess what?!? LOL turns out I won the trivia...LOL the lady next to me had been on 15+ Carnival cruises and was ready to strangle me for winning a "gold plated plastic trophy" bwwaha ha ha ha ha!!!

During trivia we kept looking outside noticing how beautiful the sun look, so we decided to throw on our swimsuits and head to the back of the boat and were able to get seats back in the serenity area (21+) and enjoyed a yummy lunch and just relaxed!

The following day was spent at sea we played on the boat and had a lovely dinner, after dinner we went and saw SHOUT in the Paris Lounge. After the show we went out to the deck to get some air as the ship was rocking a lot, once outside we noticed that the deck was completely soaked, really ODD!!!

The next morning I woke up at 4 am to the boat rocking a lot! It felt like I was being picked up off my bed and softly set back down on it. It turned out that the ship was in a mild tropical storm and there were 70 mph winds hitting the boat causing all kinds of havoc! We were scheduled to be in Grand Cayman at 6am but we were over an hour behind schedule! Then due to the bad weather and swells our sting ray excursion was cancelled. SO we wandered around the island finding a cache and eating at a local restaurant. After a light snack we went and stood in the water for a few mins before heading back to the ship. We headed straight to the serenity area of the ship and relaxed while heading to Cozumel, Mexico.

The next day we woke up and had a nice breakfast. But we found ourselves WAITING AGAIN as ship was behind. :-/ Once being debriefed on how to get to our excursion we headed off the boat to a ferry to the main land. After a 45 min HOT AND ROUGH boat ride and an hour INFORMATIVE bus ride we arrived at the Tulum Ruins.

NOW THIS IS WHERE THINGS GOT INTERESTING!!! When the tour guide was done he told us we had and hour to walk around on our own and NEEDED to be at the bus on time! Well that didn't happen, there were a few stragglers. One guy had stood out to me even before we got off the cruise ship (3hrs ago). Once at the runins he did not follow the rules and step over EVERY barrier in Tulum to get his picture taken. We kept an eye on the time and Christine's stomach was groweling too, so headed back to the bus and stopped at the local resturant and got some local food and maragrittas (they were VERY STRONG). We rushed to get back to the bus, however we ended up waiting in the bus for 30 extra mins. I knew exactly who we were waiting on, and my thoughts were right on. After everyone sarcastically clapping when that guy finally got on...with his plate of food and some HEATED words exchanged from some ladies and their husbands. Everyone was disapointed since we had no time to see Cozumel. Half the way on the bus ride we hit TRAFFIC...WTF!?! So now it is 7:15pm and the Cruise ship was set to SAIL AT 7pm and we were still an hour away!!!!

When we got on the boat we ran into the couple that we had breakfast with and two of their friends; we all sat together on the ferry ride back to Cozmel (from the main land). They bought everyone a few rounds of margarittas an we were on our way to the cruise ship. Once we had arrived at the gate to get on the cruise ship Christine couldn't find her ID or ship card. ALL HELL THEN INSUES FROM THERE! lol Christine and one couple went back to the ferry and I looked everywhere in my book bag and on my person with no success. At this point it was 8:15pm, all the shops were closed, its dark and we are all very grogy from the Mexican "lemonad." At this point one of the cruise personel had come up to me to inform me that i had to get on the boat because it was leaving! I could see Christine in the distance just getting off the ferry for the second time and the gate had been locked behind them. I ran off to get the guy who locked the gate and while the guy from the cruise was yelling at me to get on the ship, or hurry up, or something!! Christine finally found her ID and ship card in one of her "pockets" and we got on the boat. 5 mins later the ship was moving and on its way to Tampa!

On the final day at sea we took time to relax and recoup from the long day we had in Mexico. After dinner we went to an adult comedy show that was not really very funny.

When we woke the next day the ship was already docked in Tampa...big surprize...not really. Christine's mom came and picked us up and we had Thanksgiving there! Christine and her mom called her grandfather in Hungry with the use of a webcam. Nearly the whole day was dedicated to prepairing dinner; and we all participated in cooking dinner!

We left for Atlanta at 9am on Sat. and had a h*ll of a time driving up there! The trip took us 9 hours, 2 more then it should have!

Thanks for coming along on our wonderful adventure! I hope you enjoy the pics and my story! It was defiantly a trip of a lifetime and one to remember!!!

Nice pics, although that 5:30 and 4am waking up thing is for the birds. I would've slept way later cause I was on vacation.
