Is his name Tyler? If so I was in basic and tech school with him, good kid. I bought his acclude from him lol. The AF is alright as long as you don't mind dealing with BS every day. It wasn't for me so I got out the right way. As far as talking to a recruter just remember that they are sales people with a quota like any other salesperson. They will tell you what you want to hear. Do your research and decide on a job BEFORE you join. If not you will more than likely be put into an MP (military police) position. Hope this helps.Originally Posted by ranger250x

We would always joke about throwing wrenches at the taliban folks while hiding behind our toolboxes.the only folks who get guns in the airforce are the Security Forces, and pilots.
if you want to play with guns, join the Marines.

I did 8 years in the AF as a linguist. Shoot me a PM if you have any specific questions, I'll be glad to answer them.
Wow how was that? I am about to go loadmaster in the reserves myself.Originally Posted by SpecV_Scott

i think culinary would be a drag. my friend is a plane mechanic, and he enjoys it. i think he signed up for 4 years, maybe 6. I would enjoy working on an aircraft carrier - it just seems like a hell of an adrenaline rush every day, but i like airplanes. just don't go in with no job selected, thats where they **** you over.
Here's my advice.
DON'T BE A P()SSY! JOIN THE MARINES!
(j/k everyone...simmer down)

i'm in the air force, and love it.. need anything just ask me. i no a few.
I spent 4 years in the AF as a crew chief on the F-15/22a platforms. If you have any specific questions shoot me a PM as well.
i don't regret a minute of my time served. People who go AWOL are usually the folks who cry because someone called them a bad name.

What date did you go through MEPs?Originally Posted by tron
I honestly cannot wait, I love to travel and being a part of an aircrew is a dream come true. Not to mention applying for pilot will become that much easier since I'll have a good understanding of aircrew operations.. it surely doesn't guarantee me a position but it betters my chances.Originally Posted by chubbieboi
airforce pilot training is no joke, and very strenuous - IF - you get accepted, be prepared to not have a life until you graduate. Having an understanding of how an aircrew operates is helpful as far as being comfortable in flight -BUT- honestly has nothing to do with being a pilot. *best of luck*Originally Posted by tony

I meant aircrew helps in the process of applying, not the training. I know that the training is a different story and basically a year of non-stop work.. if given the chance I have zero doubts I would make it.Originally Posted by se7en

Let me tell you something go to college get your batchlers then join. $%^& all that enlisted crap. Get that officer position make the big money drive the bad ass cars. I know from alot of friends that have joined and hated it for a fact. They said that it wasnt what they thought they were getting in to till they were in. Dont believe all the bull that the recruter tell you at all man. Another thing one of my best friends sister in law joined the Army and they said sure once your done with basic you can come back to GA. Yeah they didnt lie about going to GA although GA near Russia that is lol. Think about it long and hard its a decision that will affect your life. Good luck with it man, but think smart man. Just remember that your there ***** for the enlisted period. That mean you will do whatever they say and go were ever they want you to. In case of war you will be deployed dont matter what you are doing (that means if your in school your going bro).
I was a military brat for 18 years (father was in AF) and my sister graduated from the United States Air Force Academy and is currently a Captain in Military Intelligence. I support anyone who joins the military for the right reasons.
Do some research on all the branches before you decide. It sounds as if you havent a clue about the positions offered in each branch. Take as many practice ASVAB tests as you can. The better your ASVAB score, the more choices/options you get for a career path.
Just remember, when you sign the dotted line... it's a CONTRACT. It's not some crap job at the mall where you can walk out if you're not happy. In this case, you're stuck. You may be placed into situations in other countries where your life is on the line. If you can't come to terms with that, don't join. We don't need you. We don't need another waste of space thats going to complain about having to fulfill the contract they signed.

She LOVES it. She flies to other countries to train with their officers, makes a lot of friends... etc etc. She was in South Korea for a year and is now stationed in Hawaii.Originally Posted by tony
When she goes away to her *missions* she just kind of.. disappears for a few months. She can't tell us when she's leaving or where shes going. It's only after, when shes back, where she'll call and let us know shes alive. Her last mission was in Brazil.
yup. .i'm stuck here in valdosta ( Moody AFB) for another 2 years.. I put down Japan, Korea and Guam but no sign of luck. But hey, at least i'm closer to home (3 hours away) from my girlfriend.
