First of all dont get one til u get ur permit ( its too tempting to carry) which takes 4 -6 months to get..but when u do get on are u gonna physically carry it on u all the time or just in ur car? Ive got a S/W Sigma Series 9mm (theyre like $320 now i think) its a a big gun can be carried if needed but great for the car plus only time im ever gonna need it is with my car sooo!

well i hope that 380 would do the job and keep them from killing you after you attempted to "stop" them or slow them down..... and they can take your ass through the wringer if you shoot them.

a lot of what makes the difference is knock-down power. sure you could carry a DE.50 with would knock both you and guy you are shooting on your ass.
but a .45 has much more weight and mass to it than a a 9mm or 380. even if you didnt kill them on the first shot they would SURE AS HELL think twice about pickin their ass up off the ground.

Who do you guys deal with to feel the need to have a gun on you at all times? I understand wanting to keep one in the car and definately a couple at the house, but to carry one with you at all times, even at work seems a little overkill to me.

Wrong. In a sense. The length of time depends on your location. Gwinnett has a turnover rate of about 2 months or less. Clayton County was running almost 9 months behind. I got mine in Rockdale County in 6 weeks.

No I understand that completely, but carrying at work? Thats what seems overkill. Like I said before, I want a pistol and a concealed permit, but not to carry on me at all times, just to have in the car, or if I'm ever in a shady place of town.
What about the fact that people carrying guns tend to get shot more than people who dont? This has been proven statistically many times over.

Depends on the job, I think. If you work in an office building or warehouse or something, I would find it amusing that you would carry it. Imagine going to a staff meeting and sitting down at the big ass table with peers and execs and having to lay your 9mm on the table because it isn't comfortable sitting on it. Lolol. My job, it would be practical to keep with me. Only the Feds say I can't.

the walther 22 is a cool little gun, great for target and pocket gun...i laugh when people laugh at the .22 and how they say it cant do damage, hit in the right place, and it will knock a bull down.
Anyways, go out shooting some different guns... I carry a glock 17.... and right now back it up with a Taurus Mill .40 until I sell that one to get a xd 40.
The Millienium Taurus .40 is damn good.. but the XD just feels little better, but when I mean a little better..slightly..
Is all about how it feels on you, grip, etc.. I mean, one gun may feel good on me, but bad on you... get it.
Aslong you choose a reliable gun with all the other factors you are good.
Other info : Gwinnett it says 90 days to get permit.. took me 30.
As far as I know there is no concealed permit or license in Ga.. in ga is GFL which means, GA firearm license..
GA is a open carry state.. that means , if you have a permit you can show it.
why carry a gun, better to then not to. GA has some weird as people....

on a side note..... if you pull a gun on someone and they have a gun they are more likely to shoot you in fear of their own lives...... thats why u shoot first, ask questions later.

p99s are great guns indeed, but a little large for concealed carry, i'd never carry mine.
if it were up to me i'd carry a subcompact glock or a kahr.

i switch up between my bersa thunder380 w/a 9shot mag(gun review click weapon)
and my glock model 21, .45acp (weapon review here)
as far as carry goes.
the thing you want to look at is target aquisition(from a holstered position to target), holstered comfort in various positions (standing, sitting and driving), weapon concealability ("flashing" while GETTING YOUR WALLET at a store/convenience store or bank is HORRIBLE!!) and ESPECIALLY your own accuracy when it comes to shooting a handgun. 'cause i am a firm believer in " it's not the caliber, but where it's placed" that makes all the difference.
so get plenty of practice. i'd recommend AT LEAST 2 times weekly, based on your budget allows, that way you learn your weapon, get over whatever bad habits you may have and not know (aiming with the opposite eye instead of the side that holds the weapon [left eye, right hand], or closing your eyes prior to firing
, or anticipating the recoil and flinching etc
either way, go to your local county courthouse NOW and put in for your CCW. that way by the time the B-DAY rolls forth, your permit is well into processing and maybe already in your wallet!!!!!
I have a S&W 9mm. I am going to get my permit in a couple weeks. I went last Friday, but the guy that does the fingerprints was not there, so they told me to come back. I am not allowed to carry mine on my job, though, unfortunately.

I'm not 100% certain, but from what I have read I think you have to be of age at the time of application. If so, putting it in before you turn 21 won't speed things up. I tried looking it up, but it wasn't 100% clear on that part. But from when I got mine years and years ago, I seem to remember they specifically asked for ID and proof of my age when I applied.
i just picked up a springfield XD-40 subcompact and have been carrying it lately. overall a really nice gun, feels and shoots great. also have a walther P22 which is a lot of fun, but i prefer the XD for carrying.
also, for some of those worried about insane permit wait times, i got mine in exactly 2 weeks in gwinnett.

I have enough land out here that I can shoot whenever I want, and like I said, I've been doing it since I was old enough to hold a gun, growing up in a big hunting/military/law enforcement family, so I agree 100% with everything you said. When you turn 21 take the guns you do have to the gun range and practice with each to see which one works out. If none of the ones you own work for you then rent one from the range itself so that you can get the feel of which one you're more comfortable handling. Also whichever gun you do decide on make sure that you have a good holster to keep it in place and secure throughout your body movements, the more secure a gun stays on your side the better you'll feel carrying around your gun.
As far as GA Gun Laws, if you don't have a CCW and you plan to carry a gun with you, it has to be visible at all times from 3 different angles of view. That means no shirt, jacket, pants pocket, or anything covering the gun unless you have a CCW. I read enough on this because of conflicting stories from people. You can carry a firearm with you at a workplace as long as you have written consent from the business owner, not verbal, in case a LEO asks for docs you have it in writing. If you don't have the written permission of the business owner it's just like concealing a weapon without a CCW= bad terms with the Fed's. That's about as much as I can remember right now.

i agree ive carried a taurus pt24/7 with me everywhere ive gone in the last 2 years fired a few 1000 rounds throw it and never had a problem with proper cleaning and up keep.Hey I would get the Taurus great gun and forms to fit ur hand (grip) This is the gun I would carry, byw it offers great locking (security). Was gun of the year in 05.

MIL/LEO families FTW!! grew up watching my pops walk around with M16's, shotguns and gans of other weapons, definately helped nurture my respect/admiration for weapons. my fam is like yours, i've got an uncle that swears he's a cowboy, we laugh at that but not the fact that he can and outshoot any male in the family, my dad included. we watched one time as he spotted a turtle in a small lake about 100 yards offshore and took it's head off with one shot!
growing up they used to have shooting comps and an older cousin was close enough to the turtle to bring it out for proof.....this is the same uncle that would warn neighbors if he moved to a new area by moving his things in, then would walk outside with his shotgun and fire one round in the air, then quietly walk back inside.

I just went up to Probate court in Gwinnett and they even have a different way of re-newing the license. Now, you have to do the whole application process over again. You have to fill out the application, get fingerprinted, and pay the fees.....and WAIT. Yep, you have to wait just like the first time. It should be no biggie though. They gave me a temp. 90 day one while waiting on my perm one to come back. No biggie.
I do seem to remember reading on the paperwork that you do have to be 21 at the time of application though. I know they asked me for I.D. when I filled out the paperwork, so I'd imagine they would turn you away if you're not of age.

YOU CANNOT CARRY A LOADED GUN ON YOU WITHOUT A GFL in GA.. dont believe me.. try it... HAHAHAHA what a fool. Visible or NOT.
With a GFL you can carry either concealed or OPEN CARRY. YES , GA is a OC (open carry) state.
