they are not trying to step in and make themselves higher or superior to you, their role is that they interpret the readings of the bible and their life experiences and then tell the stories in mass to give advice to those who need it and they do the rituals in church as apart of their duty.

they are called father as an issue of respect for their way of life... God is called THE Father.
