of course i would, but then again a parent doesnt have to be biological

a guardian is also a parent


It is more an out of 'respect' thing than anything. something that symbolizes unity and family, you know.. like the church being a "family" where everyone is the same and there would be no prejudice. Also the priest would take on the 'fatherly' role of guiding, advice etc.
