Good, Ole'Fasion bullshit!
What kind of truck was that? Where could you go about finding something like that? I was looking for a 1920's-30's Ford... but they're hard as hell to find and still cost a lot of money. Best of luck with this awesome project man! Reps for doing something different.
And damn nice big block motor!
*edit* You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to KDM guy again. I'll get ya later.

1948 chevy pickup on what I believe is a '54 frame.. not 100% sure about the frame though. As far as finding it... you just have to be patient lol. I've been looking for a truck like this for quite some time now.Originally Posted by sirkus34

The previous owner did a pretty sh*tty job on the chopping and sectioning of the top half, and more and more lately i've been thinking about scrapping it and going topless, sorta like the way Scott's Hotrods N' Customs did on their '56 shop truck "Heavy Metal":
that sh*t would definitely be different. i think i'm gonna do a photochop to see...
what do you guys think?

Awesome stuff.
Definitely go with the Cadillac motor. Resist all temptation to go with a Chevy engine as those have been done to death and are not very interesting anymore. Every other Chevelle and Monte-Carlo in ATL has a 572 in it, its not every day you see a Cadillac motor as a swap. The Cadillac motor will make a mountain of torque, and the caddy block had a higher nickel content and (iirc) forged crank/rods so they are very strong. Combined with that turbo 400 and a Ford 9" you will have an indestructible drivetrain.
Part of the appeal of rat rods are the people using obscure engines. Buick Nailheads, DeSoto Firedomes, Ford Y-blocks, Stovebolt sixes, etc. I'm tired of seeing SBC's and BBC's in everything.![]()
yes, i fully plan on sticking with the 472, and i agree with that whole entire postOriginally Posted by NawzDawg!!1!

Wow man... I stared at that thing on craigslist for so long....so long.
I went to check out an old pontiac rat rod who's owned by a guy that's friend's with the guy you bought this from, and when I passed on the pontiac he kept saying I should get the truck.
Good luck with it man...enjoy. I'm always looking for a rod for myself, so if you see anything good, let me know.
Thanks,
Rut
