Laziness. It isnt a fashion statement, we're simply too lazy to tie shoe strings. I myself dont even like to buy normal shoes with shoe strings. I want to be able to slip them on and off without untying them. Sandals are a shoe i can step into as i walk out the door. White people also tend to live more sendentary lifestyles than other races so we have less of an appreciation for footwear than other races. Obviously i dont feel this applies to all, but if i had to explain it for the person who does fit this description. That's what i think.
