That's the way to go. It's what my mom did and it worked, still sober 7 years to this day. You can do it if you really want to, all it takes is the will.

i'm curious as i'm not fall out alcoholic, i go out on the weekends and get a drink, i've reduced myself to not drinking during the week...but to the real alcoholics, i guess to say, you cant have any alcohol once sober, unless you're ready to go back into drunkenness? thats crazy

I've seen alcoholics go to rehab, get help and then have a drink every now and then when they go out with their family. I don't think they HAVE to stop drinking alcohol but they recommend them not to, in case the urge occurs again. Like I said, I DON'T THINK they have to, I may be wrong.

yea i hope not, i hope they're at least able to at least have a beer every now and again w/o having to worry about going back to the same old drunken state. i try to keep myself under control so alcohol wont be my crutch.

Well neighbor Im glad to see your taking the right steps in the right direction. I come from the old school of "tough love". So with that being said, if I hear or see of you having even a sip of the juice, I will in fact whoop your ass from one side of the neighborhood to the other. STAY STRONG BRO...

Atleast you are taking steps to get better...but getting rid of an addiction means changing your way of life...the people you hang with, your thought process, the activities you do...make a plan and stick to it and good luck.

its unfortunate that your wife had to leave you for you to realize you needed serious help.

at 33 with an almost two year old and drinking as if you were a teenager is a good enough reason for any mother to leave...i hope you don't blame her and understand where she is coming from. i hope no one here has shown you pity because you dont deserve it - maybe your kid - but not you. now mainly focus on overcoming your issues no matter what it takes.

fuck and if you wish to get back with her in the future, show her how you're trying to better yourself not so much for you, but for your wife and kid.

I'm almost going through the exact thing, besides the marriage part, so I know where you're coming from. If you need anything, you know how to contact me. I misplaced that contact information, what was it again?

Rob- You got this man. You know the family is more important than the momentary "escape" of alcohol. I know it's not exactly the same, but I quit smoking green a year ago tomorrow. It was hard, but I felt like so much more of a man when I quit. I felt more in control. Good luck with everything buddy, and if you need someone to take your mind off the stuff and want to chill, hit me up.
