The "nice guy" routine is just a total fucking FAIL because guys try it from the VERY FIRST MINUTE they meet the girl. At that point, you just look like a damn panderer, and give the person the green light to play doormat on your ass. The "nice guy" schtick pretty much only works once you have already established rapport with the girl, as at that point, you just look like a genuine, good, person. I see this happen all the time with people, as they try to play the "I'm the nicest guy in the world" routine, only to be stomped out repeatedly. Ironically, the girls that usually DO the stomping are also the ones that get treated like shit by other guys. I guess many guys think that because the girl has been treated so badly by other guys, she will wanna have someone who is the EXACT OPPOSITE of that. While this may be true, I don't think any girl wants a total pussy for a BF, so the happy medium is the key. K, end of rant!
