I dont consider myself a cheap ass. I would glad tip someone to provide me with a service I wanted. I can easily wash my own hands. I don't take gum, cologne, or smokes from them, therefore, they didnt do anything for me.
It pisses me off much more that it seems people don't wash their hands as often when there is a bathroom attendant. Nasty...

Restroom matrons are quite odd. I'm not a fan of the perfumes or lotions, and I have seen a one that had a "community" deodorant (yuck). If she has mints or something like that, I have no problem tipping what I would pay for a mint somewhere else. ($.25 or $.50). I like to get my own papertowels, but then you have those places where the attendant holds ALL of the papertowels. Then comes the question, "Do I look like a bitch and just wipe my hands on my pants, or shake them off, or just leave the restroom with wet hands, or take a papertowel and attempt not to make eye contact? OR just give in, be polite, and drop some more change in the jar, and take a towel. My conscience usually gets the best of me...I tip the restroom matron, take a papertowel, and leave.

Yea it sucks how they "Hold" all the paper towels and you are pretty much forced to use their services. I don't really like it but I just throw a buck in there every time I go in.

when i was in mexico at the airport this random dude that clearly was just using the bathroom and was not an attendant handed me some paper towels. i was like "umm alright, thanks". then he stood there with his hand sticking out. ARE YOU KIDDING ME
Sad thing is, I usually give in, but im pissed that I did.
My reaction when I walk into the bathroom and see the attendant is always "FUCK".

Hate the restaurant or club for feeling the need to employ someone to fill that position and not the person for having a job.
well i think in the clubs they are there so people dont fuck or use drugs in there.
My sentiments exactly! And I agree with the fact that it deters people from washing their hands.

I usually don't tip them and I feel bad also.
I gave one $5 the other night though. I was taking a piss and my beer feel and broke on the ground. He told me he'd clean it up and I thought that was cool. Not sure if he cleaned it up or not, but he got $5 from me.
I think bathroom attendants are cool because they keep people moving in and out of the bathrooms quickly. They keep people from standing around talking on the phone, doing drugs, pulling their pud, or whatever else people do in bar/club bathrooms besides peeing. I also think it discourages any douchebag behavior like peeing in the floor/sink/etc.
Its worth $0.50 to me to be able to get in and get out quickly.
If I have it, I tip. If I dont have it, I don't tip. Bathroom attendants are people, too. Atleast the man in the restroom has a job, and it is standing inside a restroom of all places. Now I understand, it was HIS choice and decisions to land him in a piss trough, BUT, atleast he has a job and is not outside begging me for money. I like to be generous if at all possible. I imagine the pay isn't insanely great anyhow.
Ill be honest i almost never have been to a place that has a bathroom attendant im not that high class LOL
But if i was ever in that situation, i would def leave something. $1 prob suffices, and its $1, isnt going to kill you
