I don't think it has anything to do with cheap asses. If they were providing me with a service I don't do 10 times a day on my own, I would be happy to tip them.

I dont consider myself a cheap ass. I would glad tip someone to provide me with a service I wanted. I can easily wash my own hands. I don't take gum, cologne, or smokes from them, therefore, they didnt do anything for me.

It pisses me off much more that it seems people don't wash their hands as often when there is a bathroom attendant. Nasty...
